This recently renovated cottage is at the top of a quiet lane with a sweeping meadow view. Single level. Two bedrooms sleep four (queen and two twin beds); new, well-equipped kitchen and one bath, open living area, deck and patio. Light and spacious. Working fireplace, central A/C; W/D; expanded cable TV and wifi; off street parking for two cars. Market/deli nearby; pleasing walk (less than a mile from center of Mystic)- restaurants, shops, marinas, etc. Near Amtrak station. Great retreat! The light spaciousness of the house, nature surround, and close proximity to center of downtown Mystic combine to create a wonderful retreat -- best ever for morning coffee overlooking a meadow, and Long Island Sound can be seen in the distance during cold weather months. The house works well for socializing, with full service for eight. New kitchen provides a wide range of conveniences. Attached deck and patio, with picnic table and grill, offer outdoor enjoyment. Fireplace warms visits during cold-weather seasons. Accordion shades cover all bedroom and living room windows and provide full privacy but do transmit diffuse light. Guests often express enjoyment of morning light in bedrooms. However, please take note that the bedroom window treatments currently are not black-out. The fireplace has an iron stove insert that retains house heat and radiates its own satisfying warmth when the fire is going. Due to the very varied experiences of guests with using a fireplace we have found it important to ask that only Duraflame logs are used as fuel. One log burns hot for four hours and generates a bright orange glow seen through the glass panel in the stove door. A log is on-hand at the time of arrival and are they are widely available at local hardware and grocery stores. Recent first floor / one level renovation of this cottage, as shown in photos, offers a private perch, indoors and out. Meadow offers a safe place for children to play away from street Two off-street parking places are available for easy parking. A motion sensor light and bright front porch light illuminate the walkway. Lots of information specific to the area -- local sights, restaurant reservations, activities -- is communicated as desired before visit. Owner/representative gives introductory welcome and orientation. On-site written information provides much useful detail about area resources -- attractions, restaurants, areas to hike, bicycle and kayak rental, library, and more. The striking beauty of the Mystic area coastline, picturesque character of its downtown, and numerous local attractions all lend to "neighborhood" appeal. Cottage has benefit of location away from hubbub of crowds, while being a pleasant walk of less than one mile from the center of downtown Mystic, and 1.5 miles from the train station. Much of interest is within 10-mile radius, easily accessible by bicycle or car. Covid-19 safety provisions: In support of the safety of our guests we maintain 48 hours between reservations (passive decontamination) and implement a rigorous cleaning protocol.
