Home in Quincy
Description
1. No smoking! ...or pets 2. Due to creek, no children under 12. 3. Please note: The parking spot is 50 feet from the entry door. The path to the door is over uneven lawn due to gophers and moles. This may be a problem for people who are unsteady on their feet! 4. No pets. The space Creekside is located in the Sierra Nevadas, along Highway 70. It is 2.5 miles from East Quincy and 6 miles from downtown Quincy. I think you will find the home a welcoming place to relax. This home, where I grew up, is surrounded by the Plumas National Forest. And it is actually one of the most economical places to stay in town, for this is a town where a spartan motel room costs about $85. WHAT CREEKSIDE HAS: A friendly creek that runs year-round and also runs right past your back deck. It has deer and foxes and turkeys and squirrels and wonderful songbirds and, yes, there’s even a chance you’ll see a California black bear but, in fact, it isn’t likely. In the 6 years I’ve been hosting, only 1 guest has seen a bear. I want you to know it’s possible but unlikely, in case you’re fearful. FYI: A California black bear’s behavioral traits are NOTHING like a grizzly bear's!! And there are no grizzly bears in California. WHAT CREEKSIDE DOES NOT HAVE: These are stumbling blocks for some guests, so I want to be clear: 1) It doesn’t have television reception. 2) The internet is not as fast as you get in a city but you can usually watch a movie without it buffering. 3) Uninterrupted quiet: In summer the highway noise will be noticeable, mostly during the day hours. I very much enjoy hosting and would enjoy hosting you! I just want all potential guests to be aware of the two technological disadvantages of my little spot of heaven. I hope to have the internet cap lifted but the electric company has been promising that it would happen for 4 years now. Every time I call they say, “We hope it will happen in the next 5 or 6 months.” So, for your entertainment there are games to play and there are movies to watch on the dvd player and there is a creek to sooth you and animals to look for. I hope that’s enough for you to choose to stay “Creekside”. Guest access Please note: The parking spot is 50 feet from the entry door. The path to the door is over uneven lawn due to gophers and moles. This may be a problem for people who are unsteady on their feet! The creek is right there for you to enjoy. Out the living room door is a deck that looks over the creek and there is also a small concrete deck right next to the creek, a nice place for a morning cuppa. The kitchen has a breakfast nook that looks out over the creek, a charming space! Perhaps one night you'd like to flip that switch right there, the one on the wall near the table, turning on the spotlight and lighting up the creek and backyard. Ahhh, now, fix yourself a cup of hot chocolate and watch the river flow. Other things to note Please note that the home isn't available for 'events' what this means is there's a maximum number of people in the home, four register guests, max. Most cell phones seem to work here (with Verizon working the best). There is a covered garage with two stalls, one for your car and one for mine. The nearest grocery store is 2 miles away. And, if you're coming for FRC's graduation ceremonies, the college is 7 miles from your accommodation. Or High School graduation: 5 miles from the high school. Plumas County can experience coldish nights in the summer, I would keep that in mind when packing!
