This 725 sq ft not-so-humble abode is for people who know what they are looking for in life- 130 acres of pastures, private hiking trail, creek and spring-fed swim pond await you on this working farm.The yurt is fully air conditioned and heated with backup generator and gourmet kitchen. Experience nature up close-let the natural world lull you to sleep as you star-gaze through the skylight in your kingsize loft. It's all waiting for you to enjoy! The space Drive down the private 1/4 mile tree- lined, winding driveway and enter the world of a working farm that is also a nature sanctuary(the land is in conservancy trust). The rustic styled yurt will cater to all your luxury needs. The water is filtered and delicious (No need to bring plastic bottles). The yurt is completely heated and ac cooled. A wood stove offers a cozy experience in winter. There’s WiFi if you need to work, although you may prefer to just experience nature! Spend your time discovering the sit spots on the completely private 2 1/2 mile hiking trail and enjoy sweeping views from the top of sheep hill. Forage for wild mushrooms( see if you can find the golden oysters along the trails in woods, or harvest our shiitakes growing next to the apiary- ask owner ). You can swim or row the boat on the spring -fed pond, swing in the old hickory tree or take a nap on the bench next to it. Dip your feet in the ice cold creek or fish in it( bring your own fishing rod). Laze on the dock at sunset or in the Adirondack chairs by the pond and finish it off with perfection with local wine, cheeses and bread! The farm is also a winter wonderland: you can snowshoe on the trail and cross-country ski across the open fields. It doesn’t get any better than this! Berkshire ski areas are half hour away. Afterwards, come back to your cozy nest and sip hot cocoa warming your toes around the wood- fired stove. The adjacent Claverack Town park offers a playground for children, as well as pick-up basketball courts. After your active (or do-nothing day), try the outdoor hot water rain-head shower or soak in the antique claw-foot tub (spa-grade seaweed bath products provided). Cook your meals in the gourmet kitchen from local ingredients purchased up the road(help yourself to any of the condiments in the pantry and fridge ). There's a Cuisinart and Nutri-Bullet. If you prefer to cook outside, the fire pit is right out your door with cooking grate and hotpot holder. (Kindling and wood provided). Top off your evening star- gazing outside on wind loungers or open up the skylight in your sleeping loft. *Please note: Although well -trained dogs are welcome, there is a $25 surcharge. Guest access You will have the yurt and the surrounding area to yourselves. There is a king -size organic mattress in the loft and double futon sofa bed in the great room. Outside your door is a picnic table with umbrella that seats 8 and fire pit with Adirondack chairs for 6. You can cook right over the fire pit(There’s a grate and hook for hanging pots over). Enjoy a swim in your private pond(towels, chairs and floats provided). Look in the outhouse for towels) Take a hike on the farm's 2 1/2 mile trail looping through the woods, past the fields, livestock barn, greenhouse and up the hill for a gorgeous vista. Walk through the gate to the adjacent Claverack town park for a pick- up game of basketball while your children play in the playground . Continue on the trail til you come to the 1/4 mile walk through the creek. There’s a special spot to enter and leave your shoes, or just hike right next to the creek. Finish up back at the pond. Relax watching the sunset with local wine and cheese. *PLEASE NOTE THAT THE WOODS DURING HUNTING SEASON OCT- DEC MAY BE OFF LIMITS. *PLEASE DO NOT ENTER THE GATED OFF AREAS - THEY ARE OFF LIMITS TO GUESTS. (Note: Both the livestock fence on the hill and the apiary have electrified fencing-you or your dog will get a mild shock if you touch. ) loop Other things to note THERE IS NO SMOKING OR VAPING ANY SUBSTANCES IN THE YURT. This is a rustic setting with animals, pond, creek and hiking trails. Guests must sign a liability waiver before coming to the farm. ***In the event of extreme allergy to bee sting, there is an emergency Epinephrine pen in the bee equipment box by the trail head. *** The yurt is powered by electricity and propane gas backup generator. We are on the grid , but most energy needs are covered by our solar power. There is a back- up generator and a wood stove. There is a heavy- duty HVAC unit for efficient heat and air-conditioning. Additional baseboard heating is around interior perimeter of the yurt, as well as ceiling fans. The bathroom has a special wall heater next to the tub for 'super cozy' bathing in cold weather. The kitchen is set up for gourmet cooking, with stainless steel and cast-iron cooker, gas stove and exhaust fan vented to the outside. The skylight in your sleeping loft provides an awesome view of the stars and moon at night, and can be opened for fresh air. Fully house -trained dogs are welcome, and there is a doggie bed and feeding bowls. *Please note, there is an additional charge of $25 for dogs. There is a top- rated destination restaurant called Local 111 two minutes up the road as well as the Philmont food co-op where you can buy the freshest ingredients from all the local farms or yummy breakfast, lunch or even dinner,(including renowned homemade breads) if you don't feel like cooking. In addition, there are lots of local farm stands within a mile of the farm. For amazing organic/ biodynamic supermarket, the renowned Hawthorne Valley Farm Store is in Harlemville 5 miles away. There’s also 24 hour Price Chopper Supermarket 4 miles away in Ghent.
