The Hillside House is a 576 sq ft (small) remodeled 1960s cabin perched on a hillside in Seven Devils with incredible Grandfather Mountain views. THE SPACE Our cabin may be small, but it’s big on charm, comfort, and unforgettable views. Renovated in 2019, the cabin blends modern conveniences with classic mountain character. Enjoy quiet mornings with coffee on the deck, long afternoons exploring local trails, and evenings under the stars in the hot tub or around the fire pit. Here, you'll feel tucked away from the world—yet everything you need is close at hand. KITCHEN Guests consistently rave about our kitchen—because we visit and use the cabin often ourselves, it’s stocked with everything you need to create memorable home-cooked on vacation meals. From sharp knives and quality cookware to oils, spices, and serving pieces, the space is thoughtfully designed for comfort and function. There is one set of upper cabinets left empty for you to store your groceries away and out of sight! Visit the nearby seasonal markets or local specialty food stores and enjoy creating meals at home while taking in the mountain view. There’s a 14-cup drip coffee maker and grinder for your morning coffee. Dining is centered around our bar-height island, which doubles as a dining space, game space, or anything in between! This also also houses the washer and dryer. Please note: We do not have a garbage disposal, filtered water dispenser, or automatic ice maker. However, the mountain tap water is treated, filtered, and perfectly safe to drink. Although we are child friendly, we do not have a high chair or children’s dinnerware. LIVING ROOM Lounge and unwind in a space designed for slow mornings, cozy afternoons, and everything in between. A Roku TV means it's easy to log into your favorite streaming service, or brows our curated collection of books centered around the outdoors, exploration, and regional travel. We also provide a variety of board games for when you want to truly unplug. An electric fireplace adds warmth and a cozy glow. FRONT BEDROOM: A queen size bed with dual-control heated mattress topper, USB equipped nightstands, small dresser, luggage racks and plenty of hooks for hanging. A seasonal space heater or fan is available for guest use if needed. BACK BEDROOM: A full size bed with a heated mattress topper, dresser, luggage rack, and wall hooks. , with a dresser and luggage rack. A seasonal space heater or fan is available for guest use if needed. NOTE: there are no closets, but thoughtful storage throughout. SHARED BATHROOM: - Centrally located (not ensuite to either bedroom) - In-wall heater for chilly mornings - Towels and makeup towels provided - Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash provided OUTDOOR SPACE: This is where the cabin shines. Step outside to a large, partially covered deck and private grassy yard—your front-row seat to Grandfather Mountain’s ever-changing view. The backyard creates perfect spots to relax and take in the changing views of Grandfather Mountain. Whether it’s sipping coffee in the morning and listening to the birds or enjoying a quiet evening with dimmable string lights and the fire pit, the outdoor space is designed to help you unwind. The hot tub is a peaceful retreat, and the yard is ideal for stretching out, playing games, or simply enjoying the natural surroundings. It's a space made for both relaxation and connection. PRIVACY AND LOCATION: Tucked away on a quiet, dead-end street with just two homes beyond ours, the cabin feels secluded while remaining central. While there is a neighboring cabin to one side, the layout of the property and the surrounding trees provide a sense of seclusion especially in the summer months when foliage is at its fullest. PETS: We welcome well-behaved dogs (up to roughly 40 lbs) with pre-approval before booking. Sorry, no puppies. Dog must be added to guest count when booking in order for us to collect pet fee. Read house rules for full policy regarding bringing your dog along! PROXIMITY TO NEARBY TOWNS AND ATTRACTIONS: Boone / Blowing Rock / Grandfather Mtn / Beech Mtn: 20 minutes Sugar Mountain: 10 minutes Banner Elk / Valle Crucis / Linville: 15 minutes Access to Blue Ridge Parkway: various access points, 15 minutes approximately Otter Falls: 3 minutes Hawksnest Tubing and Zip Line: under 5 minutes jk Guest access You will have access to the entire cabin and property. Check-in and out is easy and contact free. Other things to note Refer to house rules and pet policy before booking. The hot tub is serviced in between guests, but if you are staying with us on a Monday or Friday you can expect to see maintenance arrive between 10am and 11am for our standing appointment. Trash is collected on Mondays from our trash bins. 4WD is required in the winter months if there is snow and ice. We cannot accommodate cancellations or alterations due to weather. As mentioned in the house rules, Trip Insurance is strongly encouraged for travel anytime of the year.
