There is good cellular service depending on your provider. In rural Idaho the providers vary in their tower deployment. AT&T has excellent coverage and a tower in the town of Rockland. Verizon has a tower in American Falls about 10 miles away, so lower signal but it works. I use Verizon myself actually. TMobile and Sprint have the least coverage but I have never had a guest say there was no cell phone coverage. Make sure you enable the WiFi calling assist on your phone to get the best results. New generation WiFi router with newest AX/WiFi 6 standard. Also several Ethernet jacks set up throughout the house if you really want to make use of the full Gig speeds. This is one of the best value large family rentals available in Idaho- book now while prices are still low. You get the whole beautiful log home with tons of private space for your group for a great price. Please note that the basement area is still partially finished. Three bedrooms and a bathroom are finished in the basement, but the open living area in the basement is not yet finished. Basement storage room is the only room off limits. This is where I keep supplies and our personal items. You will be truly off the beaten path in one of the most beautiful secluded valleys on earth. Get ready for a true rural Idaho experience. Please be aware that the closest restaurant and grocery store are 10 miles away in American Falls. There is a small diner cafe in Rockland but it’s only open 8am to 5pm. There are many good places to eat out in Pocatello or American Falls, but you will need to bring in your own groceries unless you plan on eating out. Most guests enjoy preparing their own meals in our wonderful farmhouse kitchen. Save money and cook your own meals at Griffin's Lair together as a family. Our spacious kitchen is fully functional and ready to be used for cooking. Great gas cooktop, electric oven, big microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher etc. Some new Costco kitchen appliances now available include a crockpot, a new powerful Ninja blender for making smoothies, coffee maker, tea kettle, and a 4-slot stainless steel toaster. We supply the pots, pans and all other cooking and eating utensils, as well as basic cooking ingredients like flour, sugar, salt, oil, spices etc, but you will need to bring your own fresh groceries and food supplies. Plan your menu and purchase your groceries for your group in Pocatello- there is a Costco, Winco, Walmart, Smith’s etc in Pocatello. American Falls also has a good local grocer called Kens. American Falls is 10 miles north of Griffin's Lair. There are a couple of family restaurants in American Falls, plus fast-food franchises, including Subway and Pizza Hut. Call Pizza hut from Griffin's Lair, and order to go, and it will be ready for pick up by the time you get to American Falls. For a more upscale dining experience, head 35 minutes east to Pocatello and visit Jakers Bar and Grill. This is my favorite restaurant in Idaho. There are all the usual casual dining restaurants in Pocatello, including Texas Roadhouse, Chiles, Applebees, etc and all national the fast-food franchises.
