COMPLIMENTARY TOUR of the Horse Sanctuary included with 2-night stay. The space The Guest House at Rosemary Farm Sanctuary lets you get away and relax, surrounded by hills and horses. Connection free by design - no TV, no internet, limited cell service. Slow down, listen, breathe. ~ Open living/dining with hardwood floors, comfy & stylish furniture ~ Large open kitchen with island & full size appliances, pots, pans & utensils ~ Books and boardgames, a turntable and vinyl records for entertainment ~ Carpeted bedrooms furnished with antiques ~ Full bathroom with pedestal sink, combo shower/bath, hair dryer ~ All linens (sheets, towels, blankets, pillows) provided The house is on central heat in winter and has an electric fireplace for added heat and ambiance. The valley cools at night and most guests enjoy opening windows for a breeze but we also have portable AC units and an oscillating fan to keep things cool in summer. Guest access The Guest House is part of Rosemary Farm Sanctuary but has its own separate driveway and yard. When you stay at the Guest House, this is what you are renting. PLEASE NOTE: A mudroom and half bath with a separate entrance are locked out separately from the remainder of the house and used by staff and the public during working hours. ACTIVITIES Many guests want to learn more about our mission and our operations and we offer several activities that allow you to experience our horses up close and personal. (1) ALL Guests staying 2 or more nights receive a COMPLIMENTARY WALKING TOUR of the Sanctuary. (2) Guests staying 2 or more nights also receive a COMPLIMENTARY HORSE EXPERIENCE - 45-60 minutes grooming, handling, interacting with one of our rescue horses. (3) Guests may also volunteer to help with farm chores from 8-10am each morning - mucking stalls, stuffing hay in NibbleNets, filling water buckets, sweeping the barn, etc. Children age 6 and older may participate in limited tasks with parental supervision. Volunteering is 100% OPTIONAL!! All activities are subject to availability and weather, and must be scheduled in advance of your arrival. Appropriate attire is required (hard, closed toe shoes, layers, work gloves, baseball cap). We will contact you to arrange a schedule after your reservation is booked, or you can inquire in advance to help make plans. Other things to note Weather in the Catskills can be unpredictable so please consider that when booking -- you might get sun, you might get rain and mud, you might get wind and snow! If you are happy tucking into a cozy, disconnected getaway with books, board games and vinyl or trekking off to sightsee in the area, you will still enjoy it, but guests coming just to spend time with our horses need to be flexible. During inclement weather, outdoor activities will be cancelled. Cell service is limited at best on our stretch of road. Please print directions and put our address in your GPS before you get to the area. If you wait until you're close, it's too late for it to connect. Also please note many GPS systems will say "you're here" when you first turn off NY-18 onto Roses Brook Road - sorry, not true! Please continue 1.5 miles up the road and you'll find us!
