Welcome to Gibson's Warehouse No. 3 - A newly renovated, modern warehouse in downtown Staunton, VA. This historic building was designed in 1905, by renowned architect, T.J. Collins. The location is central, safe and packed full of restaurants, unique shops, breweries, green space and just about anything else your heart desires. Gibson's Warehouse is in the heart of the Wharf District of downtown Staunton, just a stone's throw away from eateries, coffee shops, shopping and nightlife. The space was gutted and fully renovated in September 2018 and pays homage to the original use of the building, a feed store/warehouse with all the modern amenities you could hope for. The new kitchen features full size, stainless steel appliances, including refrigerator, stove, microwave, dishwasher and oven, granite countertops, kitchenware and utensils, and a Keurig coffee maker stocked with coffee pods, creamers and sugar to ensure your stay feels like home. Under-cabinet lighting, subway tile backsplash and modern white cabinets with soft close doors and drawers make this the perfect space for short and long stay guests. Counter-top seating with modern bar stools are the perfect place to enjoy your meals or a quick snack from our fully stocked snack basket. Choose from an assortment of complimentary crackers, granola bars, popcorn, cookies and more! The new king size bed features a new 3-layer foam mattress. Layer 1 is the comfort layer with 2" of responsive foam that sleeps cool, with perfect hug and bounce. Layer 2 is the recovery layer with 2" of memory foam to relive pressure and contour to your body. Layer 3 is the support layer with 6" dense core foam that supports all body types and sleep positions. Combined with a leather covered headboard, luxurious, high thread-count linens, you're likely to experience the best night's sleep you've ever had! Relax in bed and watch your favorite shows or sporting events on the new 50" smart TV. The spacious, private bathroom features quartz counters, tiled shower with modern glass enclosure, salon quality shampoo and conditioner and spa quality body wash. Plush towels, salon quality hairdryer and under-sink drawers complete the modern, comforting feel. The sitting area features two comfortable sitting chairs, leather ottoman and a new 50" smart TV. Easily access Netflix, Amazon Prime and many other streaming sites with your personal login so you never miss your favorite shows! Free high-speed Wi-Fi and a custom-made pipe desk with glass top makes it easy to catch up on any work you need to address during your stay. Guests will have the private use of their entire apartment during their stay as well as use of the common area lobby and amenities. The lobby area is a modern, warehouse designed space with unique pipe shelving, antique photos and tchotchkes, counter style sitting area with granite counters and wooden stools, and plush, leather arm chairs. Guests can relax and socialize in the common space and may also enjoy the use of the new washer and dryer, fully stocked with complimentary detergent and dryer sheets. There is also an iron and ironing board in the laundry closet for your convenience. We live nearby and are available to our guests whenever they have questions or need assistance. We try to protect our guest's privacy at all times so our interaction with you can be as much or as little as desired. In addition to being named one of "America's Favorite Mountain Towns" by Travel + Leisure, Staunton made the Smithsonian.com list as one of the "20 Best Small Towns in America", one of the "Top 10 Idyllic and Historic Main Streets Across the USA" by USA Today and one of "America's Best Main Streets" by Fodor's. Though a small town, Staunton has no shortage of things to do. Whether you're content perusing the local shops, eateries and galleries downtown or looking for a different adventure, there's something for everyone! Outdoor lovers will delight in the expansive scenery the Blue Ridge Mountains provide. There are plenty of hiking trails, from novice to expert level difficulty, along the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive as well as within the Staunton City limits. If mountain climbing, biking and running are your thing, Betsy Bell Wilderness park is a local favorite. Art fanatics will delight in taking in a play at the American Shakespeare Center's Blackfriars Playhouse (the only re-creation of Shakespeare's indoor theater in the world), perusing one of the many art galleries on town, or live music and drama performances of all genres at the Oak Grove Theater. History buffs won't know where to start! A visit to Woodrow Wilson's presidential library and museum is a great place to start, followed by a visit to The Frontier Culture Museum of Virginia, an outdoor living history exhibit highlighting the life of America's earliest immigrants. You can also check out a number of other museums and historic sites throughout the city. Train enthusiasts will enjoy visiting the Staunton Depot Station, originally built around 1886, the station has seen it's fair share of destruction over the years. In 1989, the station property was renovated with assistance from the Historic Staunton Foundation. To this day, it is still a working Amtrak station. Staunton also has a reputation for local food and dining! You won't go hungry with the wide variety of restaurants ranging from traditional fare to award-winning chef inspired meals. There's something for everyone's taste. Looking for a unique experience? Take in one of Staunton's guided Ghost Tours. A 90-minute, lantern guided tour of the Queen City is sure to delight those interested in haunted history. Gibson's Warehouse is 100% walkable and is centrally located in The Wharf Historic District. There is abundant street parking (free and paid), as well as a public parking lot (paid hours 9am-5pm Mon-Fri, free all other times) on the opposite side of the building in The Wharf parking lot. The Staunton Downtown Trolley also offers a fun way to explore the city and the price is only 25-cents to ride! It includes stops in the the historic downtown core, The Wharf Historic District, The Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library & Museum and Gypsy Hill Park. The trolley makes a continuous loop and stops at the Visitor Center every 30 minutes.
