Description

The Urban Duck is a cosy, private bungalow nestled on the edge of a large, private duck pond. Find the perfect balance of quiet and seclusion at this idyllic retreat for couples, solos and business travelers alike. Equipped with a kitchenette, refrigerator, bathroom with ensuite rainfall shower, high speed internet, and Roku TV. Outside on the private patio, under the shade of apple trees, is a BBQ, dining area, firepit, and an outdoor clawfoot tub! We are very sorry but NO PETS allowed. The space Quick note: The outdoor tub will remain available as long as freezing temperatures don't interfere with the outdoor plumbing (usually during the later fall months). We will keep it functioning as long as possible but know that it could be shut off at any time as temperatures fall to keep from damaging equipment. Our seasonal prices have been reduced to offset this possible inconvenience for our guests. Thank you for your understanding. Now onto the fun stuff....... Located just a short walk to downtown, and right on the shore of our small private lake, the Urban Duck bungalow offers the perfect balance of convenience and quiet seclusion. At 250sqf, this is an intimate studio-style space that will suit up to two adults. It has a comfortable queen size bed with high quality soft linens, plus a glass en-suite shower with spa-like rainfall shower head with shower hydro massage, and luxury, white towels. The toilet is in a private room with a hand washing sink and mirror. The bungalow is an efficient use of space, equipped with all the basics to make your stay comfortable, including the ability to prepare simple meals. There is a laptop-friendly desk and a chair for working or writing, plus complimentary high speed wireless internet and a TV with streaming ROKU and DISH satellite. Then, retire to your supremely comfortable bed with luxurious sheets and pillows for a wonderful night’s sleep. You will awake in the morning to the sounds of ducks and geese talking to their babies that swim in the pond all Summer long. A glass sliding door opens to the outside patio that is partially shaded by mature apple trees and overlooks the pond. Just steps away, the ducks, geese and our very own swan “Virginia” will swim right up to the pond’s edge for a visit and a snack. Drink your morning coffee or eat breakfast at the patio table and chairs while watching the wildlife. At the end of the day, light a fire in the small fire pit, cook a BBQ dinner and enjoy a glass of wine. Take a long, luxurious soak in the rustic claw foot tub, discreetly placed in a private corner on the rear deck, under the romantic ambience of string lights hanging up in the trees. (Please NOTE:...During colder months we are forced to close the outdoor tub due to freezing.) The Urban Duck is equipped with a refrigerator/freezer, microwave, Keurig coffee maker, tea kettle, toaster, electric skillet, dishes, cups, drinking glasses and utensils. Assorted teas and Keurig coffee pods are provided. Everything you need for a cozy and comfortable stay. If there is something you need please just ask and we will do our best to make it happen. We are here to make your stay as stress free as possible. If you want to be close to nature while still enjoying modern, urban living, this is a paradise you will treasure. If you are a traveling on business, you will be proud to host a client or two in our outdoor patio setting to "sign the papers" or "close the deal”. The popular tourist town of Joseph is just 5 miles up the road, with shopping, museums, cafes, brewpubs and restaurants. The county’s crown jewel, beautiful Wallowa Lake, is a large alpine lake with crystal clear waters. Hiking, biking, fishing, boating, swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking, scuba diving, even go-karting – it’s all here. We have a dedicated on-site parking space or your car, plus additional parking space for your boat, motorcycle or other recreational gear. Our other Airbnb vacation rental home – the “Swan's Nest – is next door, but you’ll find there is plenty of privacy provided for both groups of guests. The "Swans Nest" is our 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom rental home for larger families and groups. Both the Urban Duck and the Swan's Nest can be rented for group get togethers, including family reunions, classmate reunions, and special events. Guest access Private setting and private entrance to your own bungalow. Plenty of parking. A safe quiet area on private property. The parking area is shared with the Swan's Nest house guests, but these are on separate sides of the property. There is plenty of parking to go around, with overflow parking if needed. Other things to note Fresh towels and linens are always provided anytime to you on your request, however, no cleaning service (housekeeping) is provided. (We would be more than happy to provide interim cleanings for an additional fee). Hairdryer, iron and small ironing board, as well as shampoo and soap, are provided. We also provide a Keurig coffee maker, an electric tea pot, toaster, electric skillet, french coffee press and kitchen stuff to cook and clean with. We do provide a small sample of coffees (decaf as well) and teas to get you started but you should plan to bring your favorite Keurig brand coffee pods loose coffee and/or tea to sustain your consumption and taste if you are staying more than a few days otherwise there should be enough for two for a couple of days anyway. The BBQ (if you plan to use it) will require charcoal and the fire pit will require wood. Both are available locally but sometimes guest leave some behind as a pay-it-forward gesture.
