Bluestone Cottage UK can be found easily online for local videos and blogs. Mortehoe is a chocolate box village and former manor on the north coast of Devon, England. It lies 10 miles north-west of Barnstaple, near Woolacombe and Lee Bay, and is sited in a valley within the hilly sand dune land behind Morte Point, almost directly above Woolacombe. The parish population at the 2011 census was 1,637. Mortehoe can trace its origins back to the Domesday Book, and beyond. Always a farming community, in former years it was a base for smugglers and wreckers. Best route is via Barnstable to Braunton then to Mullacott Cross Roundabout - do not turn off the road and follow sat nav directions off this main route. M4/M5 or M3/Stonehenge (please note there can be a delay at the Stonehenge section). We are not far down the M5 and should it be busy, the northern coastal road provides a scenic and easy alternative. Heathrow - Mortehoe is 3hrs. Mortehoe has good transport links by bus, bike and taxi all from the center of the village. It is close to Ilfracombe, Lee, Croyde, Combe Martin, Exmoor, Hebdon Valley, Barnstable and so much else. It benefits from a quick drive to the main roads allowing easy access to all the key roads locally. ACTIVITIES *There are numerous activities and most are year round. Aside from outdoor pursuits, there are many great food, wine and local attractions. Too many to list here. * Walking routes for all types of walker - easy to strenuous, short - long, dog or child friendly. Runners have a plethora of routes, types and options. The South Coast path is world famous and on our doorstep for those walking it. * Cycle miles of quite country lanes, the special Tarka Trail designed for all cycling levels. Cycle hire shops with electric bikes are nearby. For the avid cyclist, we have time trial, road and mountain bike options. So many paths, trails and roads to choose from. *Swimming - an abundance of coastal, inland and wild swimming locations, all year round. *Surfing - Woolocombe, Croyde, Saunton. *Kayaking, coasteering, horse riding, fishing, trips to Lundy, Exmoor. *Golf - next door is Woolacombe Golf course with stunning sea views. The Championship Links course at Saunton. Willingcott Driving Range to name just a few. There's a course to suit all tastes and moods.
