Fall asleep to the sound of a waterfall and babbling brook outside your bedroom window in this historic former flax mill known as St. John's Mill. The cottage is newly renovated and features a well equipped kitchen, sofa where you can put up your feet and gaze out the living room window at the dam and waterfall, and a private grill and terrace overlooking Guinea Creek. Located along a scenic route convenient to Kent, Millerton, Salisbury & Amenia. The space The Cottage is off the driveway and nestled among trees overlooking a brook with a waterfall. The entrance is accessed via a short walkway and three steps up to the front door which opens onto the sunny windowed kitchen equipped for cooking and a cozy dining room that seats four. The rooms are all on one level. Past these is a south-facing living room (14x9) with views of the brook and waterfall, a comfy sofa, desk with ethernet, and a TV you can hook your computer to for viewing. There is also an internet radio you can get any station on and a small record player. Mid-century furniture and vintage art and fixtures can be found throughout. The bedroom off of the living room has a queen sized bed, dresser and closet with an iron and ironing board. The bedroom is very quiet at night other than the waterfall outside which you can hear if you open the window and when it's really running, the sound of water can be heard throughout the cottage. There is a full, en suite bath in the bedroom with a spa-like feeling and soft towels natural shampoo/conditioner/bodywash, & a hair dryer . If you are looking for a tech detox, this is an ideal setting as there is limited cell service (use cell over WiFi or forward your phone to the landline). WiFi can be turned on/off by guests and is located in the coat closet. For the few warm days we get, there is an A/C that cools the whole cottage. Guinea Brook, Garden & Terrace The property is 7 acres along Guinea Brook in Sharon, CT. There is 1,200 ft of brook along a high, glacier carved ridge and woods overlooking the brook below. You'll have access to the brook and the dam where you can sit and dip your feet in the water and watch young trout and if you're lucky, you may see a blue heron or snowy owl. There is an assortment of fresh culinary herbs growing outside the front door for cooking. The private terrace has outdoor lighting, a BBQ, table and chairs and casual seating. The washer/dryer can be found in the basement below the cottage through a door off the terrace. The main house is a distant 200 ft away which gives the cottage privacy Guest access Private terrace behind the cottage, yard below the cottage, the dam and waterfall, washer/dryer in basement of cottage through 2nd door off the terrace in back. Other things to note For those who may be environmentally sensitive, we clean the cottage with all-natural Meyer's cleansers for the health of our guests and person cleaning the house. These cleaning products are available to you during your stay should you need them. All soaps in the home are also chemical-free and naturally scented EO brand. Linens are washed in scent-free products and no bleach is used. Ethernet ports are available in the kitchen and living room if you bring a USB dongle. WiFi is strong with fiber service.
