Rosemary Cottage is nestled in the heart of the picturesque village of Bere Alston in the Tamar Valley, West Devon. This one-bedroom cottage has been lovingly refurbished and is ideal for a romantic retreat or a solo traveller looking for creative inspiration. It can be set up as a superking or twin. Walking from the house you will find a butcher, bakery, post office, chemist, general stores, a pub (no food) and takeaway. We always offer a free late checkout of 1pm on a Sunday. The space The space has been designed to feel cosy and to reflect the surrounding countryside. We have carefully picked colours, fabrics and accessories that reflect the moorland location. The lounge has a wooden floor, wood panelling, a huge open fire, a leather sofa bed, a beautiful table that can sit four, a television , DAB radio with Bluetooth and a fireside chair. It is lit with a mixture of wall lights, ceiling lights and a standard lamp so you can choose how you want to light it. It has a window seat if you just want to watch the world go by. It is decorated in greens, reds and browns. The lounge leads into the kitchen which has a double oven, grill, microwave, toaster, kettle and dishwasher. It is well equipped and is decorated in shades of green and cream and has a pretty tiled floor. Straight off of the kitchen is the staircase. There is a quirky little bookshelf here with books about the local area on it. The stairs are carpeted so are an ideal place to perch with a glass of wine whilst chatting to the cook! Upstairs is a bathroom with bath, shower, toilet and heated towel rail. We use White Company towels and Neal’s Yard hand soaps. Next to this is the beautiful large bedroom. Decorated in calming cream, mushroom and black and with an oak leaf theme this is a lovely relaxing space. There is an open fire here and a very comfortable Superking bed which, on request, can be made into a twin room. We use high quality bed linen from Secret Linen. There is another window seat here where you can sit and watch the world (and the occasional horse!) go by. At the rear of the property is a decked area with seats, coffee table and BBQ. It catches the sun in the evening so is a lovely spot to relax in after a day out. There is a shed out here that houses the washer dryer which guests are welcome to use. We also have a log store where you can help yourself to additional large baskets of wood for £10 per fill up. Guest access You will have access to the whole house and courtyard. Other things to note We always offer a later checkout of 1pm on a Sunday at no additional cost.
