Elbert; a cozy, romantic, classic cabin for a respite, boundless recreation, and times for making lifelong memories. Mountain views can be seen from every window & hiking is right out the door. The cabin is centrally located to two of Colorado's most charming towns; Buena Vista and the historic mining town of Leadville, and is only 10 minutes from the stunning beauty of Twin Lakes. The space Box Creek Cabin may be a "new" listing on Airbnb, BUT has been rated as a 5 STAR PROPERTY by over 105 guests on an alternative vacation rental platform over the last several years!!! It is a FAVORITE and has a strong following of returnees! We, the owners, Jon and Annie, locally manage and clean the cabin, making it a priority to offer a pristine environment for your stay, while also ensuring that you have immediate response to questions and other needs that may arise during your stay. In addition, we have prioritized providing everything you would need and want to make the cabin your home away from home. We are only 20 minutes away to help, if needed, but will never drop by during your stay unless you request it. Your privacy and autonomy is highly respected by us. The setting of Box Creek Cabin is in a stunning, quaint aspen grove, essentially at the foot of Mt Elbert, Colorado's tallest 14er. It is situated in a forested, rural neighborhood in the heart of the Colorado Rockies. It sits on the edge of open space, which creates a feeling of privacy and isolation while still being accessible and offering security. Mountain views can be enjoyed from almost every window. The interior offers warm ambience with a cozy open concept Great Room, with a woodburning stove and an abundant supply of firewood! The seating area has two custom swivel rockers and an oversized couch for relaxing, cuddling on or watching movies. Just off the Great Room is the dining area with a custom pine dining table with ample seating. Adjoined to the dining is the kitchen which is fully stocked for anything a cook might need. In addition, we provide our guests with coffee beans and a grinder that can be set for either the drip coffee maker or a French press. A variety of teas are also provided, as well as paper towels, dish soap, all linens, spices, olive oil, etc. You will not need to bring anything other than your food! The rustic elegance of the Master Bedroom offers a comfortable queen bed with 1000 thread count sheets and hypoallergenic comforter and pillows, three surfaces for suitcases, two freshly laundered terry robes, a white-noise machine, alarm clock, fan, face tissue, and two chairs for conversing or reading by a reading lamp. The views out the windows look into our aspen grove and over to Mt Massive, another 14er in the Sawatch Range. Out another window is a view to the Mosquito Range to the east. The Bunkroom offers a twin over full size bunk bed which children LOVE! There are three surfaces for suitcases, a rocking chair, white-noise machine and peg racks for additional clothes storage or towels. The bathroom offers everything that you will need! Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand lotion, hand soap, bamboo t.p., freshly laundered hand, body towels and washcloths are all provided. Box Creek Cabin is a custom built cabin, which we built ourselves using native trees milled on our private sawmill, which includes all of the post and beam construction, paneling, flooring and cabinetry. It was design-inspired by the great lodges and cabins of the West! If you have ever stayed in one of the Old House rooms at Old Faithful Lodge in Yellowstone National Park or at Jenny Lake Lodge in Grand Teton National Park, you will recognize this same aesthetic, as the cabin was created in homage to these examples of iconic western architecture. ***Please note that we are rural and on a septic system which is sensitive and requires a little more special care than city systems. Please follow the directions for use which will be posted at the cabin. ***The cabin is also on wonderful community well water which has received awards for its great taste, but also requires moderation in its use. Outdoor water use is not permitted. OUTSIDE: We provide a propane grill. Propane canisters, and grilling utensils are all provided. We ask that you clean the grills after use since the cabin is in bear country and any and all smells attract the bears. A dining area is provided with ample seating and string cafe lights for a wonderful ambience. In the front of the cabin is a covered deck with Adirondack chairs, a rocking chair and a willow loveseat.
