Rain or shine, our gothic revival-style porch features step pitches, a high peak, and closed gable shelters to protect you from any inclement weather. A Blue Moon emblem rotating high in the roof marks your way to Cairn to a perfect vacation at Deep Creek Lake. The space In 2008, Blue Moon Rising’s visionary and founder, Lisa M. Jan, had the unique vision to integrate vacation rental properties and sustainable construction practices and techniques. Throughout the construction of our facility, we made decisions with the earth and its resources first, so we believe we have created a one-of-a-kind vacation experience while leaving as little impact on our natural landscape as possible. A cornerstone of Blue Moon Rising is that nothing goes to waste. Each and every tree that was removed was carefully evaluated so they could be reused elsewhere on the project. Whether as trim, a support post, or simply as wood to fuel the highly efficient masonry stove, these trees have been given a new life in the fabric of Blue Moon Rising. The dirt removed during excavating foundations was carefully sifted and mixed with clay, water, and lime to become the natural plaster coatings on the interior and exterior straw bale walls of our flagship building, “The Leap”. With construction complete, we continue to apply earth-first principles to the day-to-day operations of Blue Moon Rising. Guest access You are welcome to explore our sprawling, 126 acre resort. You will share amazing lake-views, 3 easy-going trails, 2 communal fire pits and our community buildings. Blue Moon Rising guests only. Feel free to bring your bicycle's, snow shoes or cross country skis! The Phoenix is our full-size, communal kitchen. A beautiful, log faced structure with a living roof and lake-view. It has an ADA compliant restroom and a table that seats 8 inside. Outside are 2 propane grills, first come, first serve. Available to single couples and families staying with us at no extra charge. Next to the Phoenix is our rotunda pavilion with picnic table seating for up to 60 and views you have to see to believe!
