The room for rent is inside our weathered barn located to the side of our home in our field. Our animals change each year and they are in the field from May to Oct. This year we have Icelandic sheep. Our location is surrounded by the Green Mountain National Forest and very quiet. We have stunning sunsets and a view of the Adirondack Mountains. Nestled in the field to the side of our home is a lovely wooden barn. Our field is host to a flock of Icelandic sheep from May to October but the barn room will be your private space. The animals belong to our wonderful neighbors. A private sleeping area is equipped with a full-size bed, lighting, small mini-fridge, radio/cd player, and plenty of rustic charm. The larger part of the barn is often used for storage. There is a table and chairs that you can use in the main part to play cards or write at. There is no bathroom in the barn. There is a hospital-style commode for emergency use. Guests will use the bathroom in the house and are welcome to use the kitchen to cook. **Please remember this is a barn room and in the country, so critters and bugs can be present.** We have wireless internet in the house you can use. Our internet speed in the house is slow (1.3)speed but adequate. Please let us know if you have any problems with it so we can help you. You most likely will not have cell service but might pick up a signal at certain places in the yard. Depending on what type of cell phone you have you should be able to text but might not be able to make or receive calls. You are welcome to use our landline at any time. We have a country-style tar basketball/ tennis court you are welcome to use. The views from the barn's deck are nothing short of spectacular. You are welcome to join us in the main house to use the kitchen and the bathroom (the barn does not have either). It is a short walk across the basketball court. There is a kitchen table with chairs in the larger part of the barn, so you can play cards, read or write at. We prefer you eat your meals in our kitchen as food will attract critters in the barn. All linens, blankets, pillows and towels are provided. We are in a rural setting with the last 5 miles of dirt road from either Brandon or Middlebury. Our place is about 15 minutes (10 miles)from the town of Brandon which has several wonderful restaurants, a grocery store, and shopping. We are also about 25 minutes (14 miles) from the college town of Middlebury which is known for its quaint downtown and arts scene. We are nearby to Middlebury College Snowbowl and Rikert Ski Center for hiking. We are also minutes away from Blueberry Hill Out Door Center for hiking and biking. This space is perfect for someone looking for a rustic retreat in a beautiful part of Vermont. We will make you feel at home! The coffee pot is always on. A note about reservations in the colder months. We are more than happy to accommodate but you would need warm clothes The barn room is insulated but please keep in mind that temperatures in April or Oct can be very low so please pack accordingly. This experience is similar to winter camping but protected from the elements! Guests have access to the entire property and more than welcome to use our kitchen. The bathroom is in the house. We are very happy to help our guests have a wonderful Vermont experience. We have many maps and guide books for hiking, and biking. Please just ask and we can direct you many local swimming holes. We are a very quiet, peaceful, rural setting with beautiful sun sets. We are located on a dirt road (about 4-5 miles from the main road) from either Middlebury or Brandon. We are host to many animals small and large and numerous birds. There are buses from Middlebury to get to Burlington but times are limited. We would be willing to pick you up from the train in Rutland (for a fee) but once at our house it is very rural and a car is needed to get around. We would like to know a bit about you before we accept a reservation so please have a full profile filled. Thank you! The goats are not here anymore but love their picture so still have it posted. No smoking in the barn or house please. No firearms on the property.
