High on Sears Hill, this 1877 Gothic Revival Victorian overlooks Staunton and the mountains. Light-filled, airy and quiet. It is a 5-minute walk to downtown via the Sears Hill Pedestrian Bridge! Beautiful views of the city. Your well-behaved pets are welcome! Please see the "Space" description for more information about traveling with dogs. The first thing to let you know about is the new CDC approved Airbnb Cleaning Protocol, and to share that we are following the guidelines. A copy of the document is available in our Guestbook. In short, every square inch of everything has been dusted, washed and/or sanitized according to the Protocol. Everything. Sanitizer is provided in the kitchen, along with a disinfecting spray and paper towels. We stay out and leave the apartment closed for a full 24 hours before you arrive if possible. If two reservations "bump up" against each other (one ends and another begins on the same day), we air out the apartment between guests as best we can. This old house is undergoing a complete renovation. The two-story apartment is finished and ready for guests. A complete kitchen and living/dining area are on the first floor with a large covered porch. Upstairs includes a 4-piece bathroom with jetted tub & two-person shower, laundry, walk-in closet and balcony with mountain views. Check-in is normally 3:00 – 7:00 pm but we can be flexible if need be. Kindly provide an ETA once we've confirmed your visit and an update once you’re on the road. We may be in and out with errands and want to be here when you arrive. The apartment tour. I’m sorry it’s so long. The first thing is the new CDC approved Airbnb Cleaning Protocol, and to let you know that we are following the guidelines. A copy of the document is available in our Guestbook. In short, every square inch of everything has been dusted, washed and/or sanitized according to the Protocol. Everything. Sanitizer is provided in the kitchen. We stay out and leave the apartment with the windows open slightly for as long as possible before you arrive. Dog Visitors • Must be accompanied by their people at all times, except occasional alone time – no more than 3 hours. During alone time, the dog must be crated and comfortable. • A part of our yard is now fenced in for dog visits! We adopted an elderly Golden Retriever last year and just recently adopted a 9-month-old Aussie mix from a rescue outside of Richmond. We also have two cats, who are in-door out-door so you may see them around. • Dog and human visitors are welcome off-leash in the secure back yard:-) • Bags (in the white ceramic dog in the kitchen) and metal poop-can at the end of the porch, are provided for your convenience. • There are dog towels, a simple mat and a bucket for water in the kitchen closet. Also available is a cover for the sofa - on the bookcase next to the sofa. Please use it if your dog wants to sit on the sofa. And lastly, no dogs on the bed please. Human Visitors Everything here is available for your use and you are welcome! Kitchen/Living Room • Coffee, tea, sweeteners on the bar. There are creamers and drinks in the frig. • Have a couple of beverages on us. • Open drawers and cabinets to find a completely equipped kitchen. Use what you need and put rinsed, dirty dishes in the dishwasher. We will run it after you leave. • Please use filtered water for the coffee and hot water makers – on the bar. Our water is very hard here in the Valley! We drink it without hesitation though. • If you’re gone all day and it’s hot, feel free to leave the kitchen A/C on 70 degrees, eco mode, low fan and the same in the bedroom. Close the curtains/blinds. The house holds the cool really well. When you’re in-house, set the A/C for your comfort. There is a heated throw on the bookcase by the loveseat. Help yourself. Also, we have control over the thermostats so if you’re chilly or too hot, just text me and I’ll adjust the temperature. • We ask that you enjoy the tchotchke displays of “Nothing Special” with your eyes only. • Leave any uneaten food in the frig when you leave and tie up the trash bag. We’ll come in 24 hours after you leave to clean. • Great local LP Radio station: WQSV 106.3, NPR: 90.7 Bathroom • The layout is a little strange (a previous owner created it), but it’s very comfortable. • The closet is behind the bath vanity. • The tub holds two nicely. Be careful not to blow water out of the tub with the jets! • If you use the tub, the blue tape seal will be broken so we know to disinfect it after you leave. If you don’t use it, it is already disinfected so we won’t need to waste water to sanitize it needlessly. (Sanitizing means filling the tub with water & bleach above the jets, running the jets and then rinsing with plain water. That means filling the tub twice. We are glad to do this and encourage you to use the tub. We just need to know if we need to sanitize it after you’re gone. • Do not aim the hand-held shower at any of the plumbing in the shower; it will come through the kitchen ceiling:( Aim it at yourself. • There are more towels in the closet if you need them, as well as TP, soap, etc. • At the end of your visit, leave all used towels on the bathroom floor. Bed and Porches • There is a feather bed on top of a regular mattress and box spring. We find it very comfortable and hope you do too. More bedding in the closet. • Ceiling fan is on the switch by the dresser and the pull chains. • The porches are yours for the weekend. Hope the weather cooperates as it’s such a nice place to sit. Check-Out • Dirty dishes – rinsed and left in the dishwasher. We’ll run it after you’re gone. • Unwanted food/drinks can be left in the frig, or thrown away. • Tie up the trash bag and leave it in the can. • Leave used towels on the bathroom floor. • Leave the bed linens on the bed, please. • Make sure all dog waste bags are in the small metal trashcan by the trash house. • Leave the door unlocked and the key on the counter. The entire apartment including both porches is available for your use. Large half-acre yard, partially fenced for dogs and their guests. Woodrow Park is next door, making it easy to walk your dog. Off street parking. We're glad to welcome you to our home, and happy to help you settle in. You will have a private entrance and key, so can come and go as you wish. Hill top, big sky, constant breeze, quiet, friendly, trains, carillon Short walk to downtown, free shuttle trolley, on-site parking If you are a long-term guest - greater than one week - we require a security deposit of $9/day for your total stay, e.g., a nine-day stay's security deposit would be $81. We will add the security deposit to a special offer which will include the nightly fees, cleaning fee and security deposit. The security deposit will be returned (if applicable) after you have departed and we have inspected the apartment.
