Escape from reality in a waterfront log cabin that is as wonderful as it is surprising. The cabin is in the very quiet fishing village of Atlantic, NC in the Core Banks where you can truly relax and reconnect with nature and each other. The main house is a labor of love for us. As such, you will find a fun family environment that is open and welcoming. The kitchen, dining room, and living room are an open layout and you will find the kitchen contains any pots and pans you need, firewood by the porch, and a wardrobe full of boardgames in the living room. There is also wifi and the living room tv has a dvd player and apple tv. There is a bedroom downstairs with a queen bed and a futon , 2 queen bedrooms and a twin room upstairs. There are also an extra twin mattress and two very comfy couches if you expect a crowd :) A honeymoon suite above the garage is available in a separate listing. Please be advised, if you are renting the cabin for a week’s vacation, The Clam will not be rented unless to part of your group. We want this place to be as special to your family as ours, so please enjoy the house, porches, and dock. If you would like to use the canoe, kayak, or crab pots, please enjoy them carefully. The water off the dock is quite shallow (4 feet on average) so please enter carefully from the lower dock and do not jump or dive off the dock. The closest beaches are Cedar Island, which with extremely shallow and calm water is ideal for children. or Atlantic Beach in Morehead. An outdoor shower is next to the garage and helpful with removing initial sand from little feet. There is a marina nearby to launch a boat if you would like to dock your own at the house while you are visiting. There is also a nearby ferry that can take you to Portsmouth Island for a day or further out to Ocracoke or Hatteras Islands. We do not live nearby so at arrival, you will be greeted by the caretaker Mike who will check you in and lives nearby in case of emergency. Expect to be isolated, Atlantic has 600 people, a take out grill, and beautiful views but you will need to stop at a grocery store in Beaufort, 40 minutes away, on your drive out. There is a small convenience store about 15 minutes away on Cedar Island. That said, it is a blast from the past where you can truly relax. If you get "cabin fever", nearby Beaufort is a lovely coastal town that is worth a trip, complete with lovely waterfront restaurants and a sighting of wild ponies if you get lucky. There is space for 3 cars in front of the house. The roped off part is the septic field. You can park along the right side of the house for extra parking, or in the back
