Bunkhouse cabin 1 is an upstairs cottage . It has a beautiful view of Bold Mnt. It has one queen size bed, over sized recliner, complete kitchen, bathroom with shower, FREE Wifi and Dish network TV. Fantastic views of La Porte Bald Mountain from this 2nd floor Pine paneled getaway for two. Wonderful central location in the Plumas national forest makes La Porte your VERY close Sierra getaway. This small town has MAJOR nature and outdoor attractiions. Little Grass Valley Mountain trails and miles of mountains to explore Your pets are welcome! La Porte's original name was "Rabbit Creek", is surrounded by the Plumas National Forest. Its a great place to get away from modern life and enjoy the pleasures of hiking, fishing, nature walks, mountain biking, cross country skiing, snowmobiling or just relaxing on the porch. The first downhill ski races were held in the La Porte area in the 1860's. In the Winter there's lots of snow for cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. You can start your cross country ski, snowshoe, or snowmobile trip right out the front door of your cabin. In the Summer, Little Grass Valley Lake is just 4 miles up the road. There's lots of small streams and miles of trails to hike and fish or picnic by. The Pacific Crest Trail passes through this portion of the forest not far from La Porte. There's many historic town sites and cemeteries in the area. Some within walking distance and others within a few hours drive. You're in for a relaxing vacation in La Porte (population 23). La Porte is an old gold mining town first settled in 1851 by 49ers prospecting for gold. In it's heyday, La Porte had a bustling population of about 900 with 7 saloons, 3 hotels, 2 theaters, breweries and a large Chinese section in the vicinity of the China Alley of today. Now La Porte is a sleepy village with a saloon, post office, deli/mini mart museum. Our Bunkhouse Apartment has a queen size beds, complete kitchen, bathroom and satellite TV also complementary WIFI. We supply everything so you only have to bring your food and move right in.
