The Billiard Room Suite is an apartment in a brick dependency on the grounds of Lansdowne, one of the few historic homes in the area with original furnishings and still owned and occupied by direct descendants of the original owners. The bedroom and living area include a tiled walk-in shower, antique furnishings, and TV with Wi-Fi and Roku. The kitchen and dining area accommodate 4 to 6 people. Lansdowne is 10 minutes from downtown Natchez, a friendly community where all are welcome. The two room suite (about 800 square feet) consists of the former billiard hall, a large room with two beds and a spacious sitting area, and a kitchen and dining area which was first an office and later a commissary. There is a long covered brick gallery with rocking chairs adjoining a large brick patio and yard which are shared with the owners and other guests. Guests have access to the ground floor apartment and brick gallery, surrounding gardens and 10 acre yard, plus 100 acres of fields, pastures, trails and ravines for walking and hiking. Guests are invited to visit the main house where the owner and host lives. The owner or designee will be available to assist, answer questions and give a tour of the antebellum home if requested, and I am happy to socialize with guests if they wish. Lansdowne is on 120 cares of woodlands, pastures and lawns. In the spring and summer we hear many birds in the morning, and crickets, frogs and cicadas at night. From mid-March through the end of summer, there are hundreds of fireflies in the yard, beginning at dusk. There are houses nearby but not within view of the property. The main house and guest houses are 1/4 mile from the main road, so we don't hear any street traffic. Occasionally we hear foghorns or the calliope of a steamboats on the river, but usually it is very peaceful and quiet. This property is not on a public transportation route. There are taxi services, and a transit bus which will pickup and drop off by appointment; however, it is not a quick or efficient means of transport, as the route and schedule depend on the needs of other passengers. Therefore private transportation is highly advised. Guests with bicycles should be very cautious as there are no bike lanes and few sidewalks between the property and the center of town.
