Gannet Cottage
Gannet Cottage
Description
A quaint old fashioned traditional Fisherman's cottage but with fast wi-fi and all mod cons in a conservation area of natural beauty, and close to the waves (The Moray Firth) which are approx three meters from the cottage at high tide. Ideal for a quiet break in an away from it all location in the Seatown area of Gardenstown. The space Directly on the sea shore, Gannet Cottage has been updated over the years, but this traditional old nineteenth century fisherman's cottage has retained some of the original features. The ceilings are low, the rooms are small and the stairs are steep with the main bedroom off the top step, but it is how life was "back in the day" with probably several families sharing the one small cottage. Quirky and traditional, yet updated with all mod cons to make the most of a relaxed stay in this unique location, sleeping four in a double bedroom and a twin bedroom upstairs, with an eating kitchen; separate lounge and bathroom downstairs. Guest access The nearest parking is approx 100 yards away at the turning circle for the beach. You can stop to load/unload briefly, directly at the gable of the cottage. Other parking is available approx five minute walk away. There are no parking charges or time limits on parking in Gardenstown at present. The drive along the sea wall to the cottage is an adventure all on its own. Other things to note Gannet Cottage is situated directly on the seawall and care/common sense needs to be taken with the drop from the roadway to the shore below. Being so close to the sea can bring unusual circumstances as we are at the mercy of nature to a large extent and never underestimate the power of the sea..... all part of a stunning location and watching the waves breaking below you is a unique experience. Nature will have its own display during your stay, but from the cottage you have the possibility of great sunsets; viewing the Aurora Borealis (or Northern Lights) or just simply day dreaming. We can promise you endless waves and tides, but no promises on the Moray Firth dolphins which appear in the bay in their own time. Great in the Summer, with the option of eating outside directly by the sea, but also there is something "magical" about "cozying down" with your favourite book/or film?, in a chill evening with an ice cold glass of your favourite drink in your hand in front of a wood burning stove, while the waves hit the sea wall almost directly below you, and the spray from the waves splash up the "close" outside... an experience everyone should have sometime.... Electricity used is on a trust basis and payable by meter reading in the winter months (October - May) at the end of your stay. Heating is by electric panel heaters, some underfloor heating and by wood burning stove. We leave an initial supply of logs to get you started. Registration Details AS00212F
