Description
This cabin is in Pitkin Colorado (not Almont - Google maps is wrong!). Our large deck offers a 180+ degree view of the Continental Divide and is enjoyable throughout the year. Watch birds from the big, sunny windows with window seating or from the large deck; the house is warm and comfortable all of the year. This secluded cabin sits at about 10,000 feet in elevation surrounded by beautiful forest. Please use AWD or 4WD vehicles as rain makes the roads slick here! The space This cabin is awesome for summer AND winter recreation and feels very private, though you are only 2 miles from the town of Pitkin - ride, hike, snowmobile, snow bike, ski, snowshoe trails right from the house! Bears also love this area and for that reason we do not provide a bbq grill anymore (bears 3-grills 0). Warm and cozy with a big deck and a woodstove; we have a new outdoor fire ring and seating area, just uphill from the cabin - you'll see a gravel trail to it and some red chairs up there. We just had a huge forestry project at the property, so there is a ton of wood left on the ground that needs to be burned - any wood/branches you see on the ground is good to burn (fire conditions allowing)! The subdivision roads are unpaved, so please use AWD or 4WD vehicles in the summer in case it gets muddy from summer thunderstorms. In the winter the house is accessible by snowmobile, snow bike, snowshoeing or skiing ONLY and guests must verify what transportation they have for getting to the cabin from the parking area (it's a 1.3 mile trip on snow-cat-packed roads). Ask about a snowmobile shuttle for your gear in and out at the beginning and end of your winter stay if you are not using your own snow machines our human-powered gear to access the cabin. Guest access This cabin is in Pitkin |(NOT Almont - Google maps is wrong!). Pitkin is a listed Bird Sanctuary and you can enjoy watching birds in all seasons here. There are also miles and miles of trails and roads to explore in the national forests and wilderness areas surrounding Pitkin that are accessible right from the cabin. The Pitkin area is very popular in the summer and guests can ride their bikes or OHVs right into town on a subdivision off-pavement road, then on to area trails from there. Other things to note This cabin is in Pitkin and is not near Crested Butte - Google maps is wrong! From Nov/Dec through March YOU MUST PROVIDE YOUR OWN SNOWMOBILES AND/OR WINTER TRANSPORTATION - VERIFY BEFORE BOOKING. If you want to grill out, you’re welcome to bring your own gas or charcoal grill to use here (fire conditions allowing) and take with you when you leave.
