Wooden cabanas, close to Ella, free bikes & boats

"Esenjay" (es-en-jay to be precise lol) is a unique & remote eco resort nestled 30kms away from the world famous tourist attraction "Ella Town", consisting of 2 wooden cabanas, tree houses & apartments. Sip your morning tea in a private wooden cabana OR on a tree house, if you want to be adventurous obviously, surrounded by large trees and singing birds and sometimes even wild elephants :) The space Esenjay, has 1 family wooden cabana, 1 garden wooden cabana & 2 air conditioned apartments. It is always let out on exclusive use, full cabana/apartment basis. "Santhaka" will be your host, the most friendliest & the handsome guy in this small village. The whole retreat can accommodate 9 adults comfortably. There are 3 single beds in the dorm, 1 double bed and 1 single bed in the family cabana, 1 double bed in the garden wooden cabana, all with attached bathrooms. The well maintained garden area can be used for yoga, stone meditation or anything suitable. The cabanas comes with hot water showers, huge comfortable 4 poster beds (cabanas), freshly laundered towels. We purposely did not build a pool because we really want you to take a dip in the near by river :) For the more active there are 2 mountain bikes on which you can explore the village area, or simply stroll through the paddy fields and along the river or ride inside the jungle for more spectacular views. Ella rock is around 30kms away and a challenge to climb for the more adventurous. A tractor safari to see "wild" elephants can be arranged upon request. INTERACTION WITH GUESTS During your stay you will be looked after by Santhaka who lives in a house next to Esenjay, he along with other staff will be there to do all the cleaning and washing-up daily. Either buy or cook your own food in a well-equipped village type kitchen, the staff will share some Sri Lankan recipes with you. If you water the plants you can pluck your own vegetables from our little home garden at no cost. OTHER THINGS TO NOTE We have a Wi Fi connection, however it is not unlimited. It is sufficient for sending emails and limited internet use. The Wi Fi connection throughout the country can be intermittent. And most importantly, we have Smart TVs in all the rooms, imagine watching your favourite Netflix series in the jungle :) We have "dinghy boats", bikes, camping equipments, fishing rods etc. Just let Santhaka know what you want, he will be your genie during your stay at Esenjay. In this tropical rural area there are an array of wild insects, including mosquitoes, butterflies, beetles etc. Remember to bring mosquito repellent. However we provide mosquito nets on all the beds.
