Located one and half hours from Otavalo by way of Laguna Cuicocha, in the Intag river valley. The weather is spring-like, with cool temperatures in the evening. Visitors hike can on trails in the cloud forest, bird-watch, bathe in waterfalls, and view the orchids. Separate large kitchen and spacious screened dining room 20m away. The cabin has two private bathrooms with tile lined showers. Drinking water is available. A neighbor can deliver sodas and other goods by motorcycle from his small store in Santa Rosa for a small fee. Neighbors at the bridge of fresh trout available year round. The cabin is on small organic coffee farm in the 350 acre Cloud Forest Reserve. Visit the Cock of the Rock Lek , hike through primary forest and bath in the river. You can pick fresh vegetables from the farm, hike in the reserve, bird-watch, bathe in waterfalls, and view the orchids. Perfect for hikers, bird watchers and families. 15 min walk from the end of the off road. The cabin has glass windows and a hammocks hung in a screened in area. There is a kitchen with a gas stove, a fridge, and a sink. Pots and pans and an electric kettle are provided. Basic staples like flour, rice, salt, sugar and oil are available for purchase. There are fresh salad greens in the garden. The cabin sits on the edge flat slope of the mountain covered in cloud forest. Birds are often observed around the cabin. The vegetable garden is next to the cabin the organic vegetables, mandarin oranges, and lemons. The orchidarium is located behind the cabin. The river is a fifteen minute hike away. The internet works well. The guests have access to the entire cabin. The cabin is a separate building from my house. The cabin has two private full bathrooms with solar heated water. The cabin can be chilly on rainy days and in the evening. High in the 80s f. low 60 f. The dining room and kitchen is a separate wooden screened in building with a beautiful view. It is only 100 steps away from the cabin. The guests can hike on trails through the Intag Cloud Forest Reserve, visit the river and hike or take the bus to the communities of Plaza Gutierrez and Apuela. The Intag Cloud Forest Reserve is privately owned. The thermal baths of Nangulvi are a half hour bus ride from the main road. This is eco-tourism at it's best. I or someone will be here to help you during your stay. I live here full time so I probably will be here. I can show you the way to the waterfall the first day and I can arrange a local guide to take you to see the Cock of the Rock lek in the morning. I am part of the community of Santa Rosa in the Zone of Intag, Ecuador. It is made up of 30 families living on isolated farms. Since everyone has to walk on the public trails, you often meet the neighbor on the trails. Many of the women are artisans whom weave and crochet with sisal. It is possible to visit the women and purchase their products. Guest access The guests have the three bedroom cabin with two private full baths all to themselves. They have access to the new wooden kitchen and dining room. It is a fully equipped kitchen with a view. The dining room has large screened windows. The slab tables and benches are in a large dining room with the view of the forested mountain. The dining kitchen area has WIFI. Guests will be able to hike and explore the 288 hector subtropical cloud forest reserve. There are local guides available. Other things to note The cabin is located 3 km from the bus stop in Santa Rosa. I can arrange a car and a horse to bring in your luggage for a small fee. You can easily make your own way if you like.
