The Locust Dome is beautiful, and wild and rustic. The perfect home base from which to appreciate the gorgeous countryside of WNC. 10 minutes to Pisgah National Forest, 25 minutes from Asheville. Sleeps 4-8 depending on creativity, and has an amazing, artsy, chill clubhouse vibe, with full kitchen, wood burning stove, and outdoor fire pit. Ideal for a beautiful, quiet, remote getaway - get the true experience of living in the mountains! ** Please read full description before requesting to book! The space Currently the space set up with enough bedding to accommodate 4-8 people, or more if you are willing to get creative. There are two bedrooms, each with a full size bed, plus a large comfy couch in the common space. If you have more folks and want the full glamping experience, we can also provide sleeping pads for 2 to 3 people (depending on how padded one person needs), two tents (one 2 person and one 10 person) and there are easy spots for hammocks. The kitchen includes a fridge, cook stoves, toaster oven, dish-ware, and hot water kettle. There is a wood burning stove inside, a lovely outdoor deck, as well as a fire pit to cook on outside. The outdoor shower has hot water on demand. There is no AC, but fans are provided. The composting toilet is ready to offer you epic views while you deposit your goods, and the blueberries and herbs are thriving. Please note there is limited cell connectivity, and no wifi. Verizon has some service out here, other networks lose service about 15 min before reaching property. You will have to park at the lower driveway and walk up the hill, so it’s made for the right folks who will love and appreciate these things! This place is a true mountain getaway, the perfect space for a chance to unplug and have reconnect with the natural world. **IMPORTANT NOTE FOR WINTER RESERVATIONS** Please keep in mind that during the winter, the space is only heated by the woodstove (space heaters will trip the breaker), and the shower and bathroom are outside. It's a beautiful house but still rather rustic and not well insulated, and a bit like camping during the winter months. Other things to note Important things to note: - You are welcome to use the fire pit, but if you make a fire, please be sure that you have put it out completely each night - You will need to park at the lower driveway and walk up the rest of the way - The water is from a spring; if you prefer filtered water, you will need to bring your own - Outdoor shower has hot water - Shower and composting toilet are outside the main building - Please do not leave any food in the fridge upon departure - If possible please take any trash and recycling with you when you leave - Very limited cellphone service; Verizon usually works, most others lose service about fifteen minutes before getting to the property
