Creekside is on a 1/4 acre with a creek that melds sweetly into the woods of neighboring park lands. Beds: Queen upstairs with bath; queen below, a window nook queen and a trundle bed downstairs, two bunks and shared bath; twin in an outside cabin; king bed in a covered porch behind the house (best for people used to glamping!). Private and serene, short walk to town or the beach. Deer, foxes, hawks, coyotes, owls and many birds visit our meadow and woods. 400 yards to sandy beach. The space Lots of books, decks on three sides, the sound of the ocean and a three minute walk to the beach. This is a classic beach house with pine ceilings, Wood floors upstairs, tile floors downstairs, a wood stove and redwood decks. It is on a large lot with a creek that flows much of the year. Green grass, willow trees, wild flowers, apple trees. We rent the house as-is with our furniture, art and antiques. We have experienced a few inches of flooding downstairs twice in 18 years and the water table is close to the surface in wet winters. Therefore, the downstairs area is cooler and more humid than the upstairs. We do our best to ventilate and clean the house to reduce the mustiness, but we cannot guarantee that people with sensitivities to moist areas might not experience a reaction. We had a washer leak problem and replaced the washer with a new one in 2023. The area where there was leaking was thoroughly cleaned and dried out. We treat the washer regularly with vinegar to prevent mold from growing. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking and dining and there are enough chairs for larger groups up to 16. We will book the property for weddings and other larger events through special arrangement and payment of an event fee. We are open to having more than nine people stay once it is discussed with the owner (there are 13 pillows on beds when we count the trundle bed in the family room and the kind bed in the creek room, but these extra spaces may not be comfortable for some guests) Guest access Spa, wi-fi, dvd movies, private open space outdoors Other things to note It’s important to manage expectations about anything. With regard to this 1956 beach house, it has a lot of charm and it is prone to ocean moisture, dust, occasional mouse and other things that come with having a house on the edge of the wild lands of West Marin. Many people have stayed in the house over the years and we have received only a few complaints about musty air or housekeeping. We do our best to have the house properly cleaned and prepared for each group of guests, but it does not always satisfy. We have rented the house to other families since 2007, usually through V R B O. You may see more information about the property by searching Practice.Place and Charles Higgins. We are open to hosting small weddings and other gatherings for an additional fee. We have space for a 300 to 400 square foot tent.
