Situated right on the beachfront and flanked by ancient baobab trees, Mangrove House Guesthouse provides the perfect getaway location on Manda Island. With stunning ocean views, long sandy beaches and breathtaking sunsets you won’t want to leave. Our house staff will take care of you during your stay. Run straight into the Indian Ocean for your morning swim, eat fresh seafood under the star laden sky at night. This is the perfect place to unwind, swim and relax. The space The Makuti Room is upstairs and open to the sea breeze. The beds are old traditional Swahili style wooden beds with full length mosquito nets. There is an ensuite shower room with toilet. You will have the use of a spacious terrace and garden facing right on to the sea for sunbathing, relaxing and eating meals. Guest access Guests have access to the garden and terraces overlooking the Indian Ocean and long sandy beach. Other things to note The Lamu Archipelago is one of the most beautiful places in the world. Made even more unique by the fact that there are no cars. Everything is reached by boat. You can sail on a lateen rigged dhow round the islands, go snorkelling, or sip sundowners on a sunset sail. Manda Island has no electricity or ground water so all utilities are powered by solar power. We appreciate if guests use sparingly and with consideration. We are also committed to responsible rubbish management and the island inhabitants contribute to a clean up team who keep the island clean and report any dumping of rubbish in the mangrove. We always appreciate it if plastic items are not left behind! Also be aware that Kenya has banned the use of single plastic bags so use cloth bags in your luggage!
