CastleHacket House, steeped in Irish History. Built in 1703 by John Kirwan Mayor of Galway, the house is surrounded by nature and is very quiet and peaceful. Join in one of our "quiet "Yoga Classes, hike Connemara, stroll Knockma Woods, explore the lakes - world Famous for brown Trout fishing, or simply relax in the beautiful Park and Gardens. We are environmentally friendly and support green living, health and wellbeing. The space The Kirwan Room, named for the historic Kirwan family that built and occupied CastleHackett House for 300 years, embodies the nostalgic lifestyle found within distant and faraway places. W.B. Yeats, in his writing of 'Fairy and Folk Tales of the Irish Peasantry (1888)', acknowledged the ownership of CastleHackett fairy folk and their possible invention by the Kirwans, in order to support their financial and fiscal status. The myth has surged and established itself as imagery, alongside tales of lepreachauns, which challenge and stimulate the wonder and awe of visitors annually. The Kirwan Room hints at these travels within its cosy yet, very spacious area. Accomadation is up to 4 guests, 2 luxury single beds, 1 King bed, with crisp white Egyptian cotton. Large ensuite bathroom and lots of common spaces to enjoy. Breakfast Buffet included. Guest access Library, Reception/Lounge Room, Dining Room with tea and coffee facilaties, Sun Room, Outdoor Picnic area with bbq/pizza wood fired oven. Extensive gardens and woods. Safe car parking. Undercover area for Motorbikes and bicycles. Yoga classes (extra cost). Wifi. Use of water hose, dry place to hang wet hiking gear. Other things to note Lovely walks in Knockma Woods directly opposite the property. It takes just over 1 hour drive to Connemara, lots to see on the way, Ross Earrilli Friary 15 min, Cong 30 min, Kylemore Abbey 1hr 20min, Leenane Irelands only Fjord/Connemara seeweed baths 1hr 25 min clifden 1hr 25 min all on the Connemara Loop. Galway 30 min, Cliff's of Moher 1hr 30min Scenic Route, Wild Atlantic Way. Next town is Tuam, 10 min 7.6km plenty of shops, pubs, restaurants, wood fired pizza etc. One night may not be long enough....!
