We are a small, friendly and very affordable Eco lodge on the shore of lake Victoria. We are full service but relaxed and specialize in good food, quiet and relaxation . Hammock in the trees time ! The space An intimate and quiet Eco Lodge resort on three acres of Rusings Island, bordering Lake Victoria. Four self contained sleeping bandas are available with total of 8 beds and a bar/restaurant is on site for food and drinks. We offer bird watching, hiking, fossil hunting, cultural sightseeing and boating. Campers are also welcome. We practice good food on your time schedule. You tell us when you want to eat and if you are a vegan or vegetarian we do our best to accommodate your needs.We like to mix it up with fried rice, fish, thai payaya salad or eggplant parmesan to name a few ideas. Or you could have our screaming lettuce salad and special grilled cheese sandwiches. Service is buffet style. Expect to have warm weather with lots of sunshine, birds singing, animal noises in the neighborhood but pretty quiet and relaxing at Wayando. We have no TV but do play music in the bar which closes down at dark pretty much to the public. We welcome dinner parties and hope that some of our local friends show up to get good conversations going. Wayando is practicing Permaculture so expect to find composting toilets, recycling grey water projects , banana circles and organic gardening. We grow fruit and veggies as much as possible. We use no pesticides or fertilizers and dislike trash and plastics waste. We are trying to be a demonstration site for our friends and neighbors. We love Rusinga and want to keep it green. Nearby are fishing villages and boats and children and lots of things to walk around and see. Piki Piki motorcycles with drivers are always available to tour you around the island. We pick the good ones and can direct you to the best places to visit. We encourage hiking in the hills for exploration and exercise. Oh, and great views. Maybe you will find some fossils or some "black rusinga diamonds" Dont forget we are on a lake so boating of several kinds is available. We offer boat trips for a fee or you can arrange sailing trips with local fishermen. Take a day long tour of mfangano island with our friend and rock art guide George Kakimba. Wayando Beach Club is your home away from home, kinda like visiting grandmas house in the country. We treat you like family if you like or we give you space to be alone and do your own thing. Do it your way. Kids are welcome And if you happen to have a special needs child feel free to contact us. We have also completed a new handicap accessible Banda with wheelchair ramp etc. Guest access Guests can roam around the property, explore the gardens and walk to the lake. They just need to be respectful of the rooms and privacy of other guests. Other things to note The daily bed and breakfast rate is $44 per person staying in the same room. Breakfast buffet is substantial. . Full Board is $60. per person and includes 2 sodas and tea or coffee breaks. Alcoholic beverages can be purchased . Meals can be purchased separately with the bed and breakfast plan to make it half board.. Campers are welcome if they are self equiped at 950 pp. We have tents and bedding for several guests. The charge is 1800 ksh per camper breakfast included.
