Description

Built in 1904, this historic duplex was Boulder's first apartment building! Original hardwood floors and 10 ft ceilings. Skylights, private patio, air conditioning, front-load washer, 44 inch TV, fully stocked kitchen. Sleeps 3, queen bed and trundle bed. If there are additional guests that are not registered on the reservation you will be charged $75 per night. Quiet street. The space The apartment has only one real bedroom with a door. It's right off the kitchen and has a small closet, a ceiling fan and a window air conditioner. The other 'bedroom' is now a workspace with a desk, and is divided from the living room by curtains. Because it's a trundle bed which in a pinch can turn into two cots it was formerly ideal for families with kids and teenagers. Now that I'm not renting short-term to families it's been transformed into a workspace with a single cot bed which is nice for naps and lounging. It also has a window air conditioner. The kitchen table sits two comfortably, and along with the breakfast nook on the back porch double as nice work spaces for laptop work or for artistic endeavors. The apartment has the original pine floors from early last century and 10 foot ceilings throughout. The addition of two large skylights floods the apartment with light and spaciousness. Though it's only about 650 square feet it feels much bigger. It's really a vintage apartment and its charm comes with a certain fragility. This is why I've come to appreciate smaller volumes of guests and prefer a non-child clientele at this point. The backyard patio is really the 'dining room' with Colorado's perpetual sunny weather, as it boasts a sturdy wrought iron round table that seats four and a wooden bench for contemplating the flowering plants. The front porch is decked with morning glory vines and impatiens and mature trees surround the whole property providing nature's air conditioning. My aim is to provide a restful and relaxing space for recharging our psychic batteries and enjoying a non-hurried life in a walkable, environmentally friendly, manageable historic central location. Other things to note My apartment is ideal for one or two guests, especially a couple that can share the queen bed for sleeping and then use the other 'bedroom' as a workspace. The living room is divided by a privacy curtain. This creates a workspace with a small desk and a cot bed, which can double as a trundle bed for special occasions. Since there is no door it's not truly a separate bedroom. The living room has a comfortable couch and arm chair and a generous coffee table that can serve as a central point for reading material/magazines and drinks. The location is ideal for accessing all downtown Boulder has to offer. Pearl street walking mall with all it's shops, restaurants and cafes is 4 blocks to the west, and the twice weekly Farmer's Market, Central Park and library are all within easy walking distance. In addition to the full size LG washer/dryer there's a clothesline in the back that makes for quick drying for hiking and recreational clothing. The kitchen is fully stocked with pasta pots, frying pans, blender, coffee maker, and salad spinner, and the outdoor Weber grill allows for quick and easy grilling meals. I can provide up to two digital parking passes for your stay----you can almost always find a spot directly in front of the apartment. Weekends can be busy for a few hours, but because there's a strict 3 hour limit the on-street parking clears regularly throughout the day. The apartment serves as a wonderful home base to set off for the mountains and environs of Boulder, including Rocky Mountain National Park, Nederland and the Indian Peaks, and the many nearby towns like Lyons, Lafayette, Louisville and Golden, all within an easy 1/2 hour drive. It also is ideal for a single person or couple who wants to take advantage of a livable climate while working remotely and enjoying the amenities of Boulder's rich cultural and college-town life. I have a strict no-pets of any kind policy so that I can maintain superior standards of cleanliness and can offer dander-free space to sensitive guests. Registration Details RHL2016-00124
