A private room in a rural home. Peace and quiet with nature and beauty abound. Easy going hosts and an abundance of outdoor recreation nearby provide for a wonderful get away from the rat race. Location: We are located two and a half miles west of Rockton IL, just south of the Wisconsin border. The homestead sits on eight wooded acres has a shallow creek, a one acre pond and a peninsula for camp fires. Rural country roads are ideal for biking and the pond offers canoeing or kayaking opportunities. Just down the road is a 700 acre wetland sanctuary which attracts numerous migrating waterfowl, offers hiking trails and grand bird watching. Nearby is the Colored Sands Bird Banding station where visitors are welcome to participate in the process. Sugar River Forest Preserve is also close by and has miles of marvelous trails and the pristine Sugar River for day or overnight paddle excursions. A few miles north of us is the College town of Beloit WI which offers cultural activities, shopping, farmers market, and fine dining as well as the Rock River and adjacent parks. Angelic Organics a working organic farm and education center located just east of Rockton and offers hands on activities and volunteer opportunities. Of course our humble little town of Rockton has quaint dinning, antique shops, churches, library, swimming pool and grocery available for your use. There are lots of fun and entertaining things to do nearby and of course you can always welcome to just hang out at our home and enjoy a relaxing day. Guest Room: The guest room has its own entrance and many windows with a view over-looking our pond. It has a Queen sized bed, an extra inflatable Full sized bed topped with memory foam for a 3rd guest or children. We offer a sheltered outdoor sitting area, Internet access, music, camp fire pit, fresh water and a self regulated heating and air conditioning unit. It has a private entrance to a shared full bathroom, use of shared kitchen, meals and laundry are available upon request. Controlled pets are welcome as long as they are not left unattended for extended periods of time. Safe off street parking. We enjoy getting to know our guests and their life journey's. We hope time permits us to spend time getting to know them and enjoying their company. We love our neighborhood's location being a straight shot off hwy 90, west on Rockton Road. This makes us easy to find without a lot of turns if driving at night. Bird Haven is the first house on the left as you enter Eunice Ln. You might like to walk across the street to see cows and horses, or stroll beneath the shade of soaring oak trees that line our neighborhood streets. You will need your car as we are located in the country. We would like you to park in the first paved driveway. We will be there to greet you and lead you along the short wood chip path around to the French doors facing the pond. If snow, rain, or other conditions are an issue we have an optional entrance through our garage ... it is a bit closer but not as charming.
