The space Welcome to Sunset Cottage, a private guesthouse set across from our home, offering seclusion and stunning views of unforgettable sunsets over our nature-filled lake. This cozy retreat is all yours to enjoy, surrounded by the beauty of our 19-acre property. Begin your mornings with coffee your way, brewed using either our regular drip coffee maker or K-Cup machine. You’re welcome to use nearly anything we’ve provided to make your stay comfortable, fun, and rejuvenating—just let us know if there’s something you need! While we don’t offer cable, you’ll love unwinding with a DVD player or Roku device (log in to your streaming accounts) on our impressive movie theater screen with surround sound. Outside, gather around a private fire pit tucked in the woods, fire up the grill, or enjoy yard games and our three frisbee golf nets. Wander the trails, take in the breathtaking lake view (just a short stroll away), and watch for our friendly chickens and kitties roaming freely. Traveling with kids? They’re welcome to collect eggs or feed the chickens—just ask! The lake isn’t for swimming, fishing, or boating, but it’s a wildlife haven and the perfect backdrop for those jaw-dropping summer sunsets. At night, the deep countryside darkness transforms the sky into a stargazing wonderland. Need space for a larger group? Pair your stay with our onsite Sunrise Cottage. Your peaceful, refreshing escape starts here! It should also be noted that our establishment is licensed by the local health authority. Guest access There is a special parking space for guests located next to our cottage/garage for our guests. If you will be bringing more than one vehicle, please let us know in advance so we can get a 2nd space opened up for you. Guests are free to roam and explore our 19 acre property at their leisure including a few short walking trails during non-winter months. We are located only three miles from town so you will enjoy the serenity of being in the peaceful and quiet country, yet with the convivence of being so close to town. Other things to note What to Expect During Your Stay Our Animals: Our chickens free-range during non-winter months, and you might spot a few friendly kitties wandering the property. If they’re ever a nuisance, just let us know! Our dog will be leashed or tied up when outside. Hunting Season: If your visit falls during waterfowl hunting season, you may hear occasional gunshots from local hunters on the lake. Parking: One parking space is provided; please let us know ahead of time if you’ll need additional spots. Water: Living in the country, we use a water softener, and our water is perfectly safe to drink. For those accustomed to city water, we’ve added a reverse osmosis system in the kitchen. Nearly all our guests love it, but we want you to feel at ease! Cottage & Garage: The cottage and our garage share a building. You might hear the garage door if we need to access it during your stay.
