Allihies is a charming village next to the Atlantic Ocean, beaches and hills surround the area. There are two shops and three bars in the village. Plenty of things to see and do in this spot full of history and natural beauty. The space The two bedroom, three star apartment consists of 1 double bedroom ensuite, 1 bedroom with two single beds ensuite, living room, kitchen and dining room, all modern conveniences - dishwasher, dryer, TV, electric heating etc, linen supplied. The apartments are located close to the supermarket and petrol station, just 50 meters from the playground and pubs, 1 km from the beach and old Copper Mines and just 10 miles from the local golf course. Allihies is also ideally located for walking the beautiful Beara Peninsula. Allihies is an old mining village steeped in the history of the old Copper Mines where over 1500 people worked in the late 19th Century. These mines are now closed but are nevertheless very interesting to visit. Allihies also boasts a mine museum, a very popular tourist attraction which tells the story of the mining industry in Allihies. Allihies has a lot to offer to anybody who wants to get away from it all. Miles of wild, unspoilt countryside, beautiful sandy beaches, high rugged mountains and the beautiful Atlantic Ocean. Ideal for a summer holiday or just a short break. The village has three lovely pubs, where you will find traditional music and a friendly welcome from the locals. O’Neill’s restaurant provides light snacks and evening meals. We boast some of the richest fishing grounds in all of Europe with a wide variety of fish to be caught. The area is also renowned as a Bird Watchers paradise with many varieties of rare birds visiting Dursey Island and the cliffs around our shores. As a guest you will have free access to your own private well appointed appartment. It is completely independent from the owners house. You are free to call across to visit us at our shop for any answers to questions you may have. We have a great knowledge of the area and are always able to help. Allihies is a charming village situated on the end of the Beara peninsula. Steeped in history with its old Copper mines which are similar to the mines found in Cornwall England. In the village there is a post office, shop and three bars. In the surrounding area there are a few sandy beaches and hill walking. Plus 8 KM away the famous cable car ride to Dursey Ireland. There is a daily bus service to Castletownbere, two buses a week come to Allihies, it is best to come to Allihies with your own method of transport, be it, bicycle, motorbike or car. The Beara peninsula is quite possibly one of the nicest places in Ireland, quiet and charming, a lot less busy than Kerry and all the better for it.
