As elephants wonder through your garden, monkeys sip from your pool, locals present you fresh fruit, and the aromas of fine food and cocktails emerge on your balcony, you will know you have found a new home. Guests have access the entire house, gardens, swimming pool, carport, and even the stepped descent to our private elephant watering hole. Note: We have an additional suite, the Klip Springer room, which adjoins the main house. This can be rented separately should you require extra space. See the associated listing. We also have the Cliff House on the property, which can accommodate a couple in extreme privacy and comfort. The main house and gardens are exclusively yours. I live in a cottage away from the house and am available if needed. There are two watchmen -Saidi, and Matano- who are here 24 hours a day and will look after any requests. Mwanamkuu will look after your rooms and your laundry. John, Pumzika's chef, would love to cook for you for a small extra charge of KES 2000/- per day (approx USD$20 or EU€15 per day), and Chengo, who is an experienced tour guide and driver, is also available to drive you around, do the shopping and run errands. (see the extras). Exceptional Starlink powered internet is available on the property. The local town of Kwale - 10 min driving - hosts a colorful fruit and clothing market each week. You can also find basic groceries, drinks, supplies and an ATM here. The Mwaluganje elephant sanctuary, on which the house sits, can be entered by car for a guided or unguided tour through this home to 500+ protected elephants. The Shimba Hills Nature Reserve is also in close proximity, where you'll find giraffe, zebras, various deer species, monkeys, crocodiles, and leopards. We can also organize a local guide to bring you to the majestic waterfall a 20-30 minute hike from the house, passing rare plant species used for a variety of medicinal or practical purposes in Africa. 30 minutes away is the beach town of Diani, offering excellent restaurants of all kinds, bars and nightlife, kite surfing, shopping and more. We highly recommend spending a day here at least. Slightly further afield are the Tsavo East wildlife sanctuaries, the Shimoni caves, and snorkeling or SCUBA diving at the marine park. **Driving in Kenya is perfectly safe. We recommend car rental for ultimate mobility, but we are also happy to organize your transport if you prefer, or just a few shillings you can take a 'boda boda', namely ride on the pillion of a motorcycle for 100/= ($1) from the house to Kwale and then a 'mutatu' which is a small bus to the Ukunda, Diani Beach and to Mombasa. We are happy to assist with tour bookings and other activities that may be difficult to reserve from overseas.
