The Tiny: Off-Grid Microcabin (NEW!)
Come stay on this small .3 acre lot in a tiny A-Frame (100 square feet) in the Red River Gorge! Because big things come in small packages, and sometimes less is more. With a large deck, outdoor kitchen area, and composting toilet you'll enjoy the off-grid lifestyle. The Tiny has easy access to the Red River Gorge area for hiking and climbing. This cabin does not have running water or electricity. I am still adding to my tiny cabin! At this time I cannot accommodate pets, kids, or campfires. Update!! The Tiny now has a deck net on the back left side of the cabin (picture a woven hammock built into the deck)! This feature has not yet been updated in listing photos. Please let me know if you have questions about this feature! The Tiny is located on a gravel road off KY-15 in Campton close to climbing and hiking destinations. It is built on a hill, and all-wheel drive/4-wheel drive is recommended to make it to the parking spot. There is only room for 1 car and that parking spot is 14 x 9 feet in size; you may stick out into the gravel road a small amount if you have a larger vehicle, which is totally fine as the road can accommodate that! There is a solar unit that will work with low-voltage items (phone chargers, rechargeable batteries, etc.) as long as it is sunny out and the unit has had an opportunity to charge! Having solar power is not guaranteed for your stay; it will not be available after the first freeze of the year as I take the battery home (Usually in November/December). No electricity also means no A/C for the hotter months or heat during the colder months! The cabin is not insulated, so you should plan on dressing/preparing for sleep in the same way you would for camping! One top sheet, one quilt, and one thin additional blanket are provided for each bed with 2 pillows, so plan to bring your own sleeping materials if this does not feel adequate for you (i.e. a zero-degree sleeping bag for cold months or an additional battery fan to sleep with for hot months). Additionally, there is a small rechargeable fan available to use if the solar unit is charged for the hotter months. The Tiny has a composting toilet 25-30 steps away from the cabin and it operates on a wood-chip system. The Tiny does not have any running water, so please come with enough to drink, complete your bedtime routine, and use for cooking! There is an outdoor cooking space with a charcoal grill. There should be some compostable wooden utensils available to eat with, however, there are no cups or plates provided. Showers are available at a low cost at a local campground/restaurant that is 10 minutes away (Miguel’s Pizza) OR 30 minutes away at a new soaking tub/outdoor shower experience (The Temple). The Tiny is self-check in! The Tiny is on a .3 Acre lot, and there are people building their own cabins close-by. The parking spot is 14 x 9 feet; you may stick out into the gravel road a small amount if you have a larger vehicle, which is totally fine as the road can accommodate that! One top sheet, one quilt, and one thin additional blanket are provided for each bed with 2 pillows, so plan to bring your own sleeping materials if this does not feel adequate for you (i.e. a zero-degree sleeping bag for cold months or an additional battery fan to sleep with for hot months).
