The space This very private and secluded lower-level Daylight walkout apartment boasts great design, open outdoor and indoor spaces, with its own entrance and parking space. Every window shows a forest view immerses our treasured guests in forest bathing and a retreat unlike any other. The outdoor personal and not SHARED outdoor spa is used by our guests throughout the four seasons! Guests love the outdoor shower and clawfoot tub soaking under the stars seeing shooting stars or wildlife to winter snow! Eating outside at our picnic table in the forest or table on the patio, bathing and showering outside, walking and many other things – it’s so awesome to do all that! Having a rest outside is even more important, especially if you spend the whole day in the office and with the isolation due to the COVID19 pandemic, had Woodsy Retreat before the pandemic as a spa-like a getaway retreat and more so now! As hosts, we want to share the most relaxing outdoor spaces – your very own personal spa! A spa is, first of all, has a bathroom or a shower, and we so organized such a spa indoors and outside - for instance the claw-foot tub sits on natural stone by the firepit. The outdoor spa space is hidden and secluded to feel more relaxed, this is the first thing our guests remark on with awe. The outdoor spa has the plant and temperate rain forest lush greenery surrounding both indoor and outdoor bathing zones. Seclusion and privacy! Only one neighbor to the left cannot see into the daylight walkout or the outdoor spa and clawfoot tub. The daylight walkout is surrounded on two sides by a temperate rain forest. To the left, there is a pond with ducks, geese to herons (Bald Eagles & Red-Tailed Hawks, too). The pond hosts the custom subdivision artesian well-- acres of privacy and seclusion. The hosts are located to the front of the home and only have views of the treetops- we rarely see or hear our guests. The forest muffles sound- guests have to hike to the front of our home to talk to us.- We use text and Airbnb email to communicate. It has two bedrooms, with 2 king-size beds- the best bedding and luxurious bedding has guests returning to experience the best night sleep ever. The white bed linens are crisp and fresh and Euro-style with a memory foam topping. The Italian leather Euro fold-down sofa turns into a full-size bed for extra sleeping accommodations as well as ample couch space. The sofas linens are located in the baskets next to them when requested. The fresh and bright bathroom with a shower and a window looking out to the forest is with many products to choose from. The shower has a rain shower, handheld nozzle, and a Teak built-in chair for a true indoor spa experience. More towels and products are on the shelves for your use. Thick thirsty robes are draped on the hooks and slippers are provided. Our outdoor spa shower for our guests to rinse off for the hot tub sits in the temperate rain forest and under the branches and the starry skies setting. However, many guests prefer using our hot tub, outdoor shower, and clawfoot tub that is so private/secluded that is in the middle of the temperate rainforest. The outdoor toilet is a luxurious odd house with a sink located outside by the outdoor shower. Now add in the outdoor patios- and an outdoor room equipped with a laundry, most guests are outside forest bathing, observing wildlife to storm watching! We had to accommodate our guests! Plus hiking the state park- a 10-minute walk through towering trees to the beach, the guests now have a place for the muddy or dusty shoes and clothes outside with the laundry, toilet, outdoor spa! The open concept great room houses, remodeled kitchen, a dining area, a big screen TV in the sitting area with Italian leather Euro sofa-bed, and a comfy leather couch to surf the internet or watch cable. The galley kitchen has a gas stove, microwave, side-by-side door refrigerator, and the cabinets are set up for your culinary dishes or take-out meals. Of course, the great room has a pool table with windows presenting a sumptuous view of the temperate rain forest. Facing the pool table is a gas fireplace that heats the entire apartment on cool nights or cold days. Our guests walk, run, and hike this trail frequently with our beautiful Golden Retriever (Charm). Out your door is your private access to your own personal spa with open-air hot tub, shower, clawfoot tub, toilet and sink, barbeque, and deck with overhanging trees and the sky to sink into while soaking in the hot tub is the ultimate woodsy forest retreat experience. We just ask that you let us know if you want to use it so we can make sure the heat is appropriately adjusted. And we are asking you to make sure you rinse, shower off all body lotions, gels, hair gels, and conditioners each time BEFORE entering the hot tub. Other things to note Most are surprised at how dark at night our place is. We are on the edge of the forest and a 10-minute walk to the Puget Sound beach - Tolmie State Park. When it is a clear night, with little light pollution, the skies are lit up. We utilize Verizon as our carrier - those that do not have Verizon will not be able to get calls or messages. But, most guests love the fact they are off their smartphones and digital access. Of course, you will be able to connect with the WiFi. If you go out to the entrance to the subdivision you will get a signal. We have a landline in the apartment for your use as well. We have many business and remoter workers, families with kids on remoter learning that stay here and work with their computers and phones with no issues. We had film producers filming the forest here and many radio talk shows. Woodsy Retreat is an ecological retreat and we need our guests to be true guardians of the forest, the pond, and the artesian well water. Many guests are surprised at all the wildlife- coyotes, barn spotted owls, bald eagles, red tail hawks, ducks, geese, rabbits, squirrels to millions of tree frogs looking for their mates in spring and summer croaking. Most of the 450-foot property that is not shared and only for our guests is not touched- landscaped. The reason for this untouched environment is to accommodate the ecological practices with the 50-yard guardianship with the state park and the temperate rain forest. Our guests constantly state their shock and at the beauty and seclusion as they walk down to the daylight walkout from their private parking space since we are located in a semi-custom subdivision. This subdivision has CCRs and quiet outside - noise curfew is at 10 PM. Our guests call their entrance and experience magickal. As hosts, we worked for decades to set up the awe and beauty environment. #WoodsyRetreat is often described as a hidden gem and magickal. When we bought this home after seeing the temperate rainforest I knew I could not save the all the rainforests but my small acts and how I respond and live is the greatest impact. Woodsy Retreat's temperate rainforest smack in the state park is one of the greatest natural treasures when we are just starting to appreciate their unique value. Rainforests once attributed to 14% of the entire earth's cover. Today, the figure has dropped to a measly 6%, and biologists have warned that the remaining rainforests could be decimated in the next 40 years. Now think of the global oxygen levels that about 5 years go lowered beyond the point of return. But not in rainforests. When I was in India and Sri Lanka, the legend of Maatangi, the forest-dweller, the outcast from "society", Divine Feminine as the confluence of wilderness, ferocity and a presence that is free from the weight of the past evoked the true definition of forest retreats. Maatangi practice morphed into the Vaanaprastha or the forest-dweller stage of mainstream Indian philosophy. However Maatangi is not a linear stage in a lifespan. She is the invitation to experience the eternally present "dense forest" of our deepest Divinity. #WoodsyRetreat is truly a retreat into the present moment by living in the natural environment- the rain forest.
