Guest will have access to their room (Ackee + Salt Fish) and common areas such as the veranda, roof top, kitchen and living room Rural Hill is a true Jamaican community made up of mainly farmers as well as the working class who work in nearby Port Antonio. Most people have lived in Rural Hill their entire lives and have build homes and created families there. All throughout Jamaica you will notice there are homes built or being built that are often vacant. This is because many people live abroad (or foreign) mainly in the U.S., Canada, and England and come home for the holidays. A good percentage of the locals have either lived abroad or visited either the U.S., Canada or England which is nice because they have a reference of where you are from. The neighborhood has a very "small town feel" and is right next to Long Bay. There is a primary school as well as a basic school (pre-school), several churchs (Seventh Day Adventist & Baptists), Mrs. Law's convenient store, several little shops to buy drinks, snacks, and local dishes. Up the road from the main town is where most of the farm land is. Wosley's Farm, which is associated with Diamond in a Rough Guest House is just a 15 minute walk from the house. There Shadow Man, a rasta and caretaker of the farm, will greet you and give you a tour. The farm is approximately 8 acres. All in all if you're looking to relax from the hustle and bustle, this neighborhood is right for you! There are several taxis that come up the hill and take people to Port Antonio (east) or toward Kingston (west). If you walk down the hill to the main road you will be able to take a local taxi or mini bus in either direction. They come pretty frequently during the day. At night there are less options for public transportation. Perfect for someone looking to enjoy the simple things in life but still have access to the world via internet. There is a roof top that is great for yoga, meditating or enjoying the lovely view.
