Doc's Pink Cottage South: Oceanside 3/1
Doc’s Pink Cottage : A throwback to old Bimini with COOL ARTIST VIBE. Turquoise waters. Snorkle reef right off the beach. Shell and sea glass seeking. Magnificent sunsets, and endless privacy! Open vaulted living/dining area. Got a boat? Bimini Cove Marina close by. Flag down local fishermen. Conch, lobster, and snapper, they clean it! Bimini is THE perfect getaway in winter. Best bonefishing! Central location near the ferry dock. Grocer, restaurant, golf cart rentals at end of drive. The space Doc's Pink Cottage has a permanent caretaker who keeps a sweet dog named Buddy. They live in a separate Guest Cottage on the property. The cottage has a "traditional island kitchen set up to cook like the locals do. There's no dishwasher, oven or stove to heat up the Cottage, but we cook anything we'd normally cook at home. A full list of equipment is provided. There's an outdoor cooking area with electrical outlets and a charcoal grill for your use. We're happy to suggest recipes, creative cooking tips and grocery items you might bring with you to ensure the best possible guest experience. 3 bedrooms have curtained entrances allowing airflow and cross breeze through the recently renovated space. We open the screened windows in cooler months to allow the ocean sounds and breeze to blow through. This cottage retains an Old Bimini charm you can't find on North Bimini. Some prefer slick properties and crowds. This experience isn't slick or crowded, yet is cental to both North and South. The beds are good. The linens are new and include beach towels. Each sleeping area feels fresh and inviting. The bathroom is charming and original. Yes, there's a regular door for privacy. (Please, no peeing in the shower. This is our home and everyone wants to enjoy a clean space. Removing outdoor shoes and gentleman sitting to pee is suggested.) If you walk around the left side of the cottage you find yourself on the patio, with one small step into the cottage living room and another into the dining room. The cottage has original tile and sealed cement flooring. An open floor plan makes gatherings feel spacious and comfortable. This is an island paradise with the feel of a remote artist's retreat.... rustic.... remote...removed...apart. Wifi is available, but often unreliable on the entire island. Come to unplug and embrace the Atlantic....to live on its edge, in the moment with yourself/others/nature. THIS is Doc's Pink Cottage Oceanside experience. Guest access Guests have sole access to the main cottage, patio, and beach. There's a shared walkway between the main cottage and caretaker's cottage with charcoal grill, shelving and electric outlet for outdoor cooking. The caretaker has day jobs, and evening jobs. It's likely you won't see much of him, unless you reach out. Contact information for Caretaker and Housekeeper are located in the Cottage Kitchen along with Wifi password (signal has been in and out on entire island recently.) Weather, maintenance and ongoing tech issues create interruption of service and the phone company is having ongoing tech issues are ongoing impacting service on the entire island, more or less. A DVD player and some movies are provided. Feel free to bring DVDs and download content before your trip. Games and puzzles are provided. Instructions for gaining access to the cottage will be sent once your reservation has been finalized and check in date approaches. Cheers Other things to note The King Bedroom has ample space on each side of the bed, however, the foot of the bed has only enough space to pass. The Wi-Fi is in and out. At times the phone service and Wi-Fi are out for more than 24 hours on the island. The seawall has been falling forward with hurricane activity. The seawall stairs, therefore, slope forward at an angle. Don't slip on sandy stairs. Keep 3 points of contact at all times, to be safe if using seawall stairs. DO NOT LOCK THE DOOR HANDLE ON EXTERIOR DOORS. These should be taped, and marked, but it's likely you will lock yourself out if you use this lock. Please close and lock windows and doors when leaving the property. ***Avoid walking on dark rocks on beach as they're VERY slippery. Walk on sand and light rocks only!!! The sand comes and goes. Sometimes the beach is all sand. Sometimes it's mostly rock, but there's always sand just up or down the beach. The seawall is leaning forward. Use seawall stairs carefully....keeping 3 points of contact at all times is wise, as is brushing sand off stairs before use.
