Friendly, Cozy Farmhouse on Idyllic Family Farm

Located on our family farm—note the name of the road!—we've recently renovated the farmhouse to add modern amenities and style to its original charm. Any of the many large windows affords a view of the farm's pastures, pond, apple trees, and hills. Prince Gallitzin State Park is less than five minutes down the road. The wrap-around porch offers a shady place to relax or even enjoy a meal outside. And, though the space is all your own, we live right across the yard should you need anything. The space There is off-street parking available for up to three cars. A washer and dryer are available in the kitchen, which is stocked with pots, pans, cookie sheets, mixing bowl, etc. We also provide basic condiments and staples for baking, as well as coffee and tea. There are two dining areas: four bar stools at the kitchen island and a large hand-made ash dining table in the dining room that seats eight. Two more rooms on the first floor provide spaces for reading, watching a movie (your own or picked from our selection of DVDs), or playing a board game (from our selection, or one you brought with you). A canoe is available for your use, should you want to paddle around the lake in the neighboring state park, which is a really nice way to spend an afternoon. We also have some guides located with the house rules and the guestbook suggesting some of our favorite spots to go for food and activities. Upstairs are the four bedrooms, which all have a chair and either a closet or other place for hanging up clothes. There is an air mattress for an eighth guest. Though there is only one "true" bathroom, there is what we in Western PA call a "Pittsburgh potty" in the basement. This is where coal miners and steel mill workers would shower off before entering the house. The toilet and shower are functional, but the space is obviously not quite as nice as the upstairs bathroom. Guest are more than welcome to use the basement bathroom if they wish. The porch has comfy patio furniture and some friendly barn cats who love attention! Guest access Guests have access to the farmhouse, with exception of the attic. Also the lawn area and there is a mowed path around the farm fields if you are in to walking and nature. Do not enter the barn or equipment sheds without host supervision. Also, do not climb the 3 hunting stands/tower located in or along the hay fields, without host being in attendance.
