Pagoda House ** a Verdant Retreat on Penobscot Bay
Description
Find tranquil peace while you relax within an architectural gem hidden in secluded natural splendor. This unique bed & breakfast offers a large ground level room ideal for couples, solo adventurers, families & furry friends - high on a bluff above Penobscot Bay midway between Camden & Sears Island Nature Preserve, and popular Downeast destinations Castine & Acadia. A short path through the woods leads to a secluded seating area above a cliff while a longer walk ends at a private cove. The space This listing includes the generously proportioned bedroom on the ground level which has a queen size bed; table and chair. There are windows on three sides, a high ceiling and a fan. There is a private bath on that floor, and space in a walk-in closet for storage and hanging clothes. The room has a wifi enabled flat screen tv with Netflix and other internet services (but not network cable). For groups and families there is also a double-sized sofa bed. To include use of the sofa bed in the fee, please choose 5 or more guests. The second bedroom is a 4th floor art studio that has gorgeous water views, with a queen size bed, and its own balcony (but no bathroom on that level. There is another full bath on the 2nd floor for studio guests). The studio has a comfortable loveseat, a large drafting table and shelves with art supplies (but no closets or dresser drawers, and no tv). Guest access Guests will have complete privacy on the first floor, which has a separate entrance. There is another door which exits to a large deck on that level, with a table and chairs. There is a refrigerator on the first floor in the utility room exclusively for guest storage, which is stocked with cold sodas and ingredients for a continental breakfast, generally including (variously) bagels/toast/donuts, granola, fresh fruit, orange juice, milk, butter, cream cheese and jams. The kitchen is available in the morning for use of the toaster, with makings for freshly ground coffee and tea. Both outdoor decks or the indoor 2nd floor dining area are lovely spaces for a relaxed breakfast; guests are welcome to use the 2nd floor area up to noon. You can leave dishes in either sink, I will load them into the dishwasher! Please note there is no smoking in or around the house and no open flames allowed inside, including candles and incense. During your stay I live upstairs on the 3rd floor and am generally available and happy to interact, and help with logistics. I have prepared a list of links to local parks and museums to visit, restaurants, shopping, sport equipment rentals and so forth which I can email to guests upon booking. My Papillon puppy Camus and I are very sociable and love having other small dogs visit. Larger dogs are welcome as long as they stay on the first floor, because there are breakable objects at tail level on the 2nd; they can safely roam outside as long as they don't go in my flower garden! Other things to note The property is situated on a steep, high cliff above the Bay, at the end of an unpaved lane past 3 other homes. The water's edge in a hidden rocky/sandy cove is accessed via a 20 minute path through the woods. A shorter walk leads to a seating area overlooking the Bay. The circle on the map shows the nearby park, not the location of the house. I'll message the exact address upon booking.
