Stunning studio in the heart of Troy: Raven's Den
Raven's Den is a large studio apartment with a queen sized bed, full kitchen, and an extra-deep bathtub. It is an open plan room that can be configured as needed, featuring two "aerial silk" hammocks that double as swings. It's in the heart of Downtown Troy, close to RPI, EMPAC, The Troy Music Hall, The Farmers Market, and the Takk House. Whether you need a cozy romantic getaway or simply a clean, fresh, place to lay your head, Raven's Den could be for you. Raven's Den is on the second floor of an 1870's building. The apartment is in the rear of the building. Note this is a second floor walk up above an artists co-op: the neighborhood and our block are still rough around the edges just the way we like it - but if you are spooked by panhandlers and people who take buses this is not for you. Please also note that there is only street parking available which is subject to the city's posted signs. This studio apartment is on the second floor, so there is a flight of stairs to climb. It is above a storefront art space that has hosted many cool events over the years, but also has wear and tear. If you need your entrance area to be pristine this is not the right place for you. Once you are in it is clean and new and you have the whole studio to yourself. Guests can call or text. Hosts and co-hosts live in the building so we can sometimes help you out in person and we always try to respond quickly via text. This apartment is right in the middle of Downtown Troy. Most of Troy's restaurants, bars, and coffee shops are within a five block radius of our doorstep. I work at RPI - and walk only 5 minutes to my office. We're in a great location... however, a word of warning: we've had a few guests who got a bit scared by the panhandlers and boarded up store fronts. If you have fear of the grittier sides of American city life then please don’t book this place... a town like Saratoga may be more suitable! PARKING: The only available parking for this place is on the street. It is alternate side parking on weeknights. Be sure to be on the correct side of the road overnight! If you don't want to worry about parking tickets, I suggest that you drop your things off and park in the residential area of town, which begins just 3 blocks south from our address on 3rd street and Ferry. BUSSES: There are public bus stops two blocks in either direction, the bus routes pass by the front of the building. BIKE SHARE: There is a bike share program with bike docks a half block away at Third and Broadway. . TAXIS: There are a bunch of local cab companies which can be a real experience. Note that you may not be the only one in a cab: they pick up multiple riders. So you could meet some interesting new friends. If you want to have a clean car to yourself and spend less money you are better off using Lyft, but alas you will miss out on our local traditional culture. Quirky things you should know: THERE IS CURRENTLY NO TV OR COMPUTER. You can use your own, but we are for the moment not enabling screen addiction. Maybe soon... HEAT: Heat is delivered by one cast iron radiator, you can turn it on and off with the valve at the floor. If its not very cold you may find that you have to turn it completely off -- and it does take some time to respond since it holds heat well.
