Chattanooga Convenience+Nature, Hiking, Playrooms
Historic 1885 home on beautiful acreage directly across the road from Chickamauga Civil War Military Park. Share your stay with the abundant wildlife living on and around the property. Enjoy the miles of hiking and biking trails available in the park, a pony ride at the Equestrian farm next door (by appointment), or take a trip to the scenic city of Chattanooga just 11 miles away. If you are looking for a rural Southern home experience, with privacy and comfort, you will enjoy your stay here. The home is next door to a guest bungalow available, upon request, as an add on for 4 additional guests. (Message host for information on renting the Bungalow). You can enjoy sitting on the front or back porch and listen to the birds, crickets, geese and all the other sounds of nature. The house is a traditional southern home, but the experience is closer to a cabin in the woods since our property is 20 acres and we are next to 5300 acres of park land. You are free to explore the property in the immediate vicinity of this house (excluding the bungalow next door unless your group has rented it as an add on). The property, pond and playground at the top of the hill are private and not available to our guests. There is an unfinished attic in the house that is locked and used only for private storage. We live at the top of the hill with our 3 dogs. We are retired, so we are available should you have any questions or need assistance. We would be happy to meet you at some point during your stay if you would like to schedule a time for a visit. We enjoy meeting our guests whenever possible. We are only 12 miles from downtown Chattanooga (about a 25 minute drive). Though we are conveniently located near Chattanooga and only 3 miles from the city of Ft. Oglethorpe(with many restaurants and stores), the home is in a rural area on acreage and next to Chickamauga Park so you will be surrounded by nature. Our area is full of beautiful and interesting landmarks, tourist attractions and activities. If you are interested in the rich history of the Chickamauga Civil War battlefield, if you love outdoor activities and exercise, or if you just want to experience life in a rural southern setting, you will definitely enjoy our area. You can simply walk across the street to enter Chickamauga Battlefield to access biking and hiking trails. The town of Ft. Oglethorpe is only 3 miles away with groceries, shops, and restaurants. Chattanooga attractions are between 10 and 15 miles away.
