This comfortable 1BR is a rare find with inspiring views and close proximity to downtown/restaurants/stores. Ample space for 2, full kitchen, laundry & beautiful outdoor space. Bus stops at the corner; 15min to San Francisco. The space Our unit, which we've named Bloomers, is a quaint little private apartment with a full kitchen and a queen bed. It is within two blocks (or less) of two grocery stores (incl. Whole Foods), several restaurants, coffee shops, a theater and lots more. It is a 15-minute walk from boutique shops and restaurants in downtown Mill Valley and even spectacular hiking. On our street corner is a bus stop for transit to San Francisco, or, if you have a car, we are about a 15-minute drive from the city. It is unusual to have this proximity AND a view as most homes/units are situated deeper into the nooks and crannies of our community. So while many will have views, very few will have a view within walking distance of so many conveniences. All this said, it's important to keep in mind that we are on the corner of a main thoroughfare into downtown; Miller Avenue. While we are surrounded by greenery and it is peaceful general, we will get road noise...sirens, garbage trucks, an occasional Harley, loud truck/car, or honking. I suppose it's the price we pay for the proximity to the conveniences we enjoy...but, if you are looking for absolute silence and solitude, this may not be your place. Also, perhaps of interest to music fans is that Mike Bloomfield, a famous blues guitarist, lived in our home in the 70s. Originally, he created the lower unit (that is 'Bloomers,' his nickname) as a recording studio, but never completed it. He used to play with Bob Dylan (locals recall listening to Mike work with Dylan on songs from Like a Rolling Stone in our house), the Butterfield Blues Band and more. Recently, a documentary was released about his life/accomplishments and then Rolling Stone wrote an article in 2014, which is framed in the apartment. Guest access The apartment is self-contained and has even been a full-time residence for our family and au pairs in the past. Coffee, a selection of teas and electric kettle are available for guest arrivals. There is one parking space for guests. Other things to note We renovated this apartment specifically for short-term rentals. It's comfortable and nicely appointed with modern fixtures. People who have stayed have at Bloomers have been surprised at the outdoor beauty, and the decks and then are thrilled when they actually see the inside of the apartment. It's very relaxing and is a great place for a little getaway while also being convenient.
