Description
The Red Barn is located in a very rural setting about 10 miles from Gettysburg. The Red Barn is approximately 1/2 mile off the main road and within a stone's throw of the Mason Dixon Line. If you are looking for a quiet space with not super internet this is the place. Plenty of books to read, miniature donkeys to watch playing with their border collie pal and on a clear night - see some awesome stars! The space A renovated Barn with two bedrooms, full kitchen and two full baths The second bedroom in a separate suite with a mini kitchenette. There is also a balcony with table and chairs. Perfect for a summer breakfast or an evening meal. If you are lucky you will even get to enjoy the owls hooting or the cries of a fox chasing their prey! Guest access Guests have full access to the space. Other things to note We do have cats that wonder the property but do NOT come into the barn. We maintain a pet free space. The guest space (private) is next to the family gym so their may be occasional sounds coming from the rowing machine or some clanking of weights. But not music. We wear headphones. But don't worry, we don't train that much and the sounds are quite minimal. In the evening , if the gym is in use, the light from the gym will shine through to the living room space - 20 feet up! There is virtually no road noise. Only a few cars pass by the Red Barn. Since this is a "farmette" you may also hear some occasional tractor and mowing noises. But we do work on minimizing farm work during early morning or evening hours. There are two miniature donkeys who sometimes bray in the morning - sort of like having donkeys be the "roosters." This is a rural setting. We do have limited wifi and limited access to cell service - though some folks get their phones to work either with wifi calling and or cell connection. There is a land line in the barn guests are free to use. There are TV's with DVD players and some movies and games along with a huge library. One Tv has ROKU. Also, since this is a "farmlike" setting in Maryland, there can be some stink bugs that make their way into the barn. No matter how any times you clean, there always seem to be some around. They are harmless and only "stink" if you squish them! Once the summer starts, for the most part they leave for the fields. But, again, very few and sometimes non at all. And, since this is a barn and in the country. mouse droppings may be seen. We work hard to not have any but if anyone knows how to be sure there are neve any signs of mice - please share your trick! There are sometimes flies in the upstairs bedroom - the stay there and it puzzles us and the pros, how they get in. Enjoy - this is a renovated barn... with original beams and a lot of original wood ... and lots of quiet! P.S. We do have a back up generator if power is lost - we are in a rural area so this can happen - the generator is loud but it keeps the lights on, water running, and the refrig on!
