A romantic getaway, nestling on the hillside, in the heart of the idyllic Dolenjska region, an area which is famous for its wines and thermal springs, this former wine store has been sensitively converted into a charming cottage, and is the ideal destination for a relaxing holiday. Laid out over the first floor, this studio sleeps 3 people. The living area is furnished with a sofa, dining table, traditional wooden dresser and an open-plan kitchen. Other things to note The kitchen is equipped with a cooker hob, oven, fridge, freezer. Although it is on the first floor, there is direct access to a covered terrace with an outdoor kitchen and a private hot tub. The outdoor kitchen includes a BBQ, a wood-burning oven and a table and chairs for outdoor meals. Guests are provided with a key to the ground floor wine cellar which can accommodate up to 10 people. Here they can purchase local wines, honey and various spirits. The owners are working towards making the property more sustainable, with steps such as single-use plastic banned, recycling bins provided, double glazing and water-efficient toilets. Sleeping The double bed is opposite the sofa and next to French windows which lead out to a private balcony. The sofa converts into a single bed. Location The cottage is on the hillside overlooking the charming town of Novo Mesto (10 minutes) and the Krka River valley. There are many activities for adventurous travellers including skydiving, rafting or canoeing, hiking and cycling. For something more relaxed the area is known for its spas and thermal waters. The cottage is halfway between Ljubljana (1 hour) and Zagreb (1 hour 10 minutes). Both capitals make fascinating day trips. Ljubljana’s international airport is a 1 hour 10 minute drive.
