It was one of the first homes built in the Twain Harte area, and we've worked to preserve the knotty pine and the traditional style elements that have always made it feel like a warm, rustic welcome to the California Gold Country, even as we've kept the kitchen appliances, furniture, and decorations updated for modern tastes and needs. Our Twain Harte lodging comfortably fits eight to ten people; however, we may allow more with prior approval. Parties or events are not allowed on any AirBNB listing. Twain Harte is a quiet town with neighbors nearby. We provide blankets, pillows and sheets, along with the first roll of toilet paper and paper towels; as well as 10 shower towels. We do not supply shampoo/conditioner, or other personal hygiene products. BEDROOMS: This cabin has four bedrooms, along with a queen-size pull out sofa in the living room for adventurous children and unexpected guests. Room One, which is at the front of the cabin, has one queen bed; Room Two offers two twin beds and is located in the back of the cabin. Room Three is a loft bedroom that's ideal for kids, boasting two twin beds, a small TV, and access through a steep ladder that keeps the loft feeling like a secret hideaway. Keep watch on your kids in Room Four, which includes one queen bed, a small TV, the ladder to the loft, and its own door to the side deck. Note: This room is used to access the loft, so you lose a bit of privacy. BATHROOMS: There are two full bathrooms in this spacious vacation rental, one of which is accessible from the house. The second bathroom is in the basement, which requires going outside and under the deck, but makes washing up when you've just returned from a long day of exploration much easier. Both bathrooms have a toilet, shower, and sink, and the basement bathroom has a complimentary washer and dryer, though neither bathroom is equipped with a bathtub. The tankless water heater gives you endless hot water for your showers, but please try to keep your showers short, so that you can help your temporary neighbors in Tuolumne County fight California's current drought. OTHER AMENITIES: The living room features a stereo system for your music, and a 47-inch big screen HD TV with Comcast cable to keep you up to date on all your favorite shows. You'll also have access to free, high speed Comcast Wi-Fi throughout the house. The cabin's land line offers unlimited free calling to local numbers and businesses; for long distance or toll calls, you'll have to use your cell phone. The paved driveway has plenty of space for all the vehicles you'll bring, whether you drive to Twain Harte in multiple cars or SUVs or take your trailer, a short RV, or a boat on vacation with you. There is no air-conditioning installed; instead, we can offer you a variety of ways to bring the natural, pine-scented mountain breezes into every corner of the cabin, including two ceiling fans in the living room and a selection of portable fans for the rest of the house. KITCHEN: The kitchen is fully equipped with all the basic cooking utensils, silverware, plates, cups, toaster, coffee pot, refrigerator, microwave oven, blender, garbage disposal, high chair, and soap you'll need. Just bring your own herbs, food to cook on the gas stove, your own coffee, tea, or cocoa to brew before going out for the day or staying in for a long, luxurious evening, or some charcoal and fluid for the charcoal BBQ waiting out on the spacious deck. There is no dishwasher, but if you're washing up your daily dishes at the sink when dusk falls, you may notice that some of the local deer, birds, and squirrels are coming out just behind the deck to pay you a visit. If you give them some cracked corn and peanuts, you may be able to charm them into coming by every evening to liven up your dish-washing routine! Coming soon we hope to have some Tree house Rentals, Beach Houses, Lake houses, Glamping Options, Tiny houses and Campers & RV's! You will have access to the entire cabin. We live in Pleasanton so we will have minimal interaction. The communication will most likely be thru email or a quick phone call. THINGS TO DO IN TWAIN HARTE: This cabin gives you easy access to Twain Harte Lake, which offers breathtaking views of Tuolumne County and a secluded slice of paradise where you can lounge on the beach, splash around in fresh, sparkling water, play ping-pong, volleyball, or shuffleboard while you dry off. If you can't swim, you can watch everyone else from shore while you enjoy something savory or sweet from the newly remodeled snack shack, stay inside for one of the bingo games held onsite, read a book, or take the plunge and let one of the local swim instructors teach you to tackle the water safely. During the summer, you and your family, friends, and guests can take a ten minute walk to Eproson Park, which has playgrounds for kids and toddlers, a skate park for daredevils of all ages, and a variety of concerts and movies on the weekends. There's also a full, 18-hole miniature golf course in town if you're looking for a fun afternoon with the family, and a 9-hole golf course where fully grown golf players can get a few rounds of practice. If you're lucky enough to visit our vacation rental in the Sierra Nevada Foothills during the winter, you can take advantage of the lush, powder-swept slopes at Dodge Ridge Ski Area (Dodge Ridge Ski Resort), sled down the soft hills at Leland Snowplay in Pinecrest, practice your spins, twirls, and other ice skating moves at Long Barn, or just watch the snow fall while drinking a glass of wine or a mug of hot chocolate and enjoying a freshly built blaze in the fireplace, or the cozy warmth of the cabin's central heating. We don't supply firewood, but feel free to bring as much with you as you need. You can also take a five minute drive and stop by the Twain Harte Market to stock up on cold drinks during the summer months, buy the ingredients you need for winter meals, or take your taste buds on a world tour with the free beer and wine tastings there every Saturday. Public transportation is not great in this area. We have one taxi and sometimes they don't work. You will need a car for this area. Minimal to none for Airbnb or lyft operators. THINGS TO DO OUTSIDE TWAIN HARTE: The nearby town of Sonora offers a number of convenient stores like Wal-Mart & Safeway, warm, friendly restaurants like Gus' Steakhouse & Sports Lounge and The Peppery Bar and Grill, and a busy downtown that has a movie theater (Regal Sonora Stadium 10) and two live theaters; Stage 3 Theatre & Sierra Repertory Theatre. Farther down the road, there's the town of Columbia, with attractions including historic Columbia State Park where you can pan for gold, take an old-fashioned family portrait, sample locally made candy or sarsaparilla made at the Jack Douglass Saloon, and take a stagecoach ride through the trails that pioneers of the California Gold Rush created over a century ago. There are also opportunities for gambling near Twain Harte, including the popular bingo games at Chicken Ranch Casino in Jamestown and the mix of family-friendly play areas like arcade games and bowling, sophisticated entertainment, sports bar, buffets, live bands, comedy shows and high-stakes gaming at Black Oak Casino in Sonora. For more adventurous travelers, there are whitewater rafting packages available through the expert guides at Zephyr Whitewater Rafting; you can also visit Moaning Caverns, where you can rappel past layers of darkness into glittering, gem-lined caverns or race past your friends on zip-lines that let you fly up to 40 MPH for ¼ of a mile. Yosemite National Park is only two hours away, giving you the opportunity to spend a day exploring the scenic heights of Half Dome's hiking trails, watching the Tuolumne River dart playfully through peaceful Tuolumne Meadows, or taking in the titanic majesty of Bridalveil Falls and the giant sequoias. Other areas in Yosemite you might want to see include; Yosemite Falls, El Capitan, Valley View, Lembert Dome, Tunnel View, Cathedral Peak, Glacier Point, Vernal Falls, Mariposa Grove or Nevada Falls. If you can't get enough of the water, be sure to check out some of the spectacular recreational lakes scattered between Twain Harte and Yosemite; Pinecrest Lake, which is only 23 minutes away, even offers outdoor movies to help you wind down after a busy day of fishing, boating, and floating lazily through a sunny California afternoon. Other nearby lakes include New Melones Lake, Lake Tulloch, Lyons Lake, and Lake Don Pedro.
