A bright and cheerful bungalow set amongst orchards and gardens. Near town, the bungalow has a full kitchen and bathroom as well as a sleeping area. The large yard is full of songbirds and is a great place to picnic, BBQ, or just laze the day away. A bright and cheerful little place. Our bungalow was recently renovated and it's a great place to spend a few days. The bungalow is set up as a studio with one great room that shares the kitchen, the dining space, and the sleeping area. The sleeping area has a queen bed and a comfy sofa-couch that is a twin. There is a full bathroom adjacent to the great room. In addition, there is a closet and a large loft to store your things. Outside you will find a covered entry way as well as a small shed roof-protected area on the side of the bungalow to store bikes, surfboards, or whatever. In addition to the entire bungalow, the guests will have access to the entire outside property, including park-like yard, great for children, the orchard, and organic garden area. There is plenty of free parking on the street in front of our house. There is free security-protected wireless internet on the entire property as well. We live in the other house on the property and are there on and off all year. We love to travel and go backpacking and are often off doing those things. We are available to answer questions throughout the guest's stay. We often are working or playing on the property and usually interact with our guests during those less formal times. Sunnybrae, our neighborhood in Arcata, is a fantastic place. We are a five-minute walk to restaurants, coffee shops, and grocery stores in the neighborhood and a 20-minute walk to downtown Arcata. Of course, biking or driving to these places only takes a few minutes! Humboldt State University is just up the hill from here as well, only a few minutes away. The trailhead to the hiking and biking trails of the Sunnybrae Redwood Forest are a 5-minute walk from our front door. Into bird-watching? The Arcata Marsh bird-watching area is a 5-minute drive from the house. The Pacific Ocean is less than a 10-minute drive from the house and there are dozens of public access points to enjoy the beach from. There is a bus station at the end of our street for the local bus system, the Arcata and Mad River Transit System (AMRTS). Schedules can be found at www.arcatatransit.org. Biking is super easy around Arcata and very popular. Restaurants, coffee shops, and stores are just a few minutes away by bike. Of course driving a vehicle around Arcata is no problem either, in addition to free parking at our house, there are plenty of safe and free parking options around Arcata when out and about. All income from this rental, after taxes and expenses, are donated to the non-profit organization, Environmental Protection in the Caribbean (EPIC). Our solar panels supply electricity through the grid to the bungalow and main house.
