Midway Up Mt. Rose

This location is perfect for visitors who want to visit the mountains, the lake, or who want to be in Reno but don't want to stay downtown. Our garden-level apartment has South- and East-facing windows for good natural light. There is a covered back porch leading out to the 1-acre backyard. The space Sliding glass doors from outside enter into the cozy living room with a wood-burning stove. The master suite is off to your left, kitchen and den straight ahead. We're located at 5750 feet in elevation, just high enough to escape the summer heat, but not so high to get 100+ inches of snow in the winter. While there is sleeping room for 6, we think the space is perfect for a couple or a family with kids. There is only one bathroom, accessed only from the master bedroom, which could take some creativity among a group friends. The small kitchen has an electric stove, oven, fridge, microwave, electric kettle, and Chemex for pour-over coffee. We’ve included most essentials for cooking but feel free to let us know if you need something. The wood-burning stove fireplace is wonderful. Cardboard and starter kindling is provided and you can buy wood at Raley's and other places in town. We request you be extra responsible around the wood stove, especially if you have children. Kids are welcome, you’ll need to baby-proof for yourselves though, and please don't leave tons of sticky fingerprints behind. We love pets but we’ve had a lot of problems with people who bring them so are taking a break right now. We have cats of our own. Our cats are friendly but will only visit you if invited. The TV room features a TV with Roku built-in allowing access to Netflix, Amazon, and more. This room has a chaise and a futon that convert to one large sleeping surface or two small ones. It also reclines for cozy movie watching. Guest access The property extends an acre back from the house and you are free to wander around (but do not go onto the neighbor's property please). Other things to note You can almost always get to us from Reno and the North without needing chains in the winter. Further up Mt. Rose Highway the road often requires chains or AWD with snow tires, so plan for that if you will be heading up the hill. Check out the NVRoads website for current road conditions. We live upstairs and sound carries between the two floors quite easily. We’ll try to be quiet, but sometimes the cats decide to run around at 2am.
