Mountainside retreat on the north side of Fort Mountain. This is a three bedroom house on the side of a mountain. The guest room is on the top floor with beautiful views, lots of space and a bath room. Fort Mountain is known for mountain biking, hiking, lakes/waterfalls/creeks, and equestrian trails. Nearby: Cherokee and Cohutta wilderness, including Conasauga lake, unspoiled and worth the dirt road travel. Visit Ellijay for apples, pumpkins and small town dining. One hour to Chattanooga. The room is upstairs with a private hallway bath. There is a back door which gives guests privacy when coming and going. The house is 1 mile in on a well maintained gravel road. The driveway is very steep but the view is worth it. Guests are welcome to use the front porch. Guests have a small refrigerator, microwave and Keurig coffee maker. Owners have 3 dogs and a cat but they are outside only and friendly. Guests have a private entrance to the upstairs. Guests may also use the front porch and outdoor fireplace areas. We are onsite or available by phone. The home backs up to Fort Mountain State Park. There are walk in gates into the park from our road. A short drive from the house is CCC Camp road and the Chattahoochee/Cohutta wilderness which offers miles of hiking, creek swimming, Conasauga lake and mountain biking at Mulberry Gap (and miles of other trails). There are also good places for motorcycling and 4 wheeling. Close to Cohutta Springs (event venue), Dalton, and Ellijay. One hour to Chattanooga. The house is a mile in on a dirt road. It is well maintained but it will be bumpy. The driveway is paved but steep. We recommend driving an SUV or car with good ground clearance. You will not need 4wd. We have dogs and a cat that stay outdoors. They are friendly.
