This sturdy house is 120 years old, so it has some wear and blemishes while some floors have creaks, etc. Here's a helpful exercise.....close your eyes and picture you just rented a quaint rustic ski chalet but without the chalet. (LOL) Say outloud "Wow, this is a REAL authentic Maine home. And this kitchen is huge and has EVERYTHING! It sure beats a hotel room" However, INSIDE our house it is welcoming, per the 261+ rave reviews you can read. Over five years our guests have rated us a stellar 4.96 stars out of 5 (over 99%) so EITHER the above issues did not occur OR didn't bother them much. Our guests rate us so high because we are so attentive to their needs. Five minutes to Dunkin' Donuts. 15 minutes to Walmart. WINTER 15 minutes to Black mountain ski area in Rumford. One guest said "great sledding hill for free at the Rumford high school !" 30 minutes to Sunday River and Mount Abram ski areas in Bethel. Our next door neighbor had some health and financial issues so his house needs repairs and he let his yard get very overgrown, but he going to improve his house and yard about April-May? so he can sell the house. In addition to our driveway, we have a carport to keep rain and snow off car. Please do not hit the brittle house siding when opening your car door like one guest did. Our driveway can accommodate two cars, as well as the street. However, if a snowstorm is imminent, there is a parking ban for snowplow access so check the town website and FB page to avoid a fine. Welcome to Snow country! If more space is needed in winter, contact me about getting permission to use the gravel lot across street. Our turn-of-the-century house (1905) has steep stairs so we have handrails on both sides. Checkout instructions 1. Checkout is by 11AM, so the housekeeper can clean for the next guests. 2. No need to strip the beds or wash anything. 3. Just leave the towels in the bathroom. 4. No need to take the trash out. 5. Please either handwash the last dishes, or stack the dishwasher, add a tablet from under the sink, and just start the cycle. No need to put them away. The cleaner likes to inspect and store them as it reflects on her. 5. Several people have left their phone chargers behind (and even a tablet once) so please do a last minute check. 6.
