Everything for your getaway--whether it's a night, a weekend or a week! Just over 1.5 miles to Weko Beach on Lake Michigan. Steps from downtown Bridgman and close to Sawyer, Buchanan, Four Winds Casino, Warren Dunes, Three Oaks, St. Joseph & New Buffalo! Check out the local wineries, like Tabor Hill, Dablon, Lemon Creek and Round Barn, and the breweries, like Tapistry, Transient Artisan Ales, Haymarket and Greenbush, and some great restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner, too! Two bedroom, one bathroom classic 1950s ranch home that's only 86 miles from downtown Chicago in the town of Bridgman, MI which is Exit 16 in Michigan---16 miles from the Indiana/Michigan border on Interstate 94. The kitchen and bathroom in the house and the side porch have been gut rehabbed and professionally designed. The living room also was completely renovated from paint to lighting to a dining table and a new couch! Central heat and a/c, off-street parking on driveway, large yard, washer/dryer, cable TV and wi-fi. Linens and towels are provided. A queen size bed is in the master bedroom, and a second queen size bed is in the guest bedroom. The living room has a newly reupholstered mid-centruy modern couch which works well if you need another 'single bed'---I end up sleeping there often when I have friends visit, and I find it quite comfortable. There's a large porch off the sliding glass door on the side of the house, as well as a back deck off another sliding glass door that goes off the master bedroom in the back of the house. Check out the wineries, bike trails, restaurants, galleries and a whole lot more that Southwest Michigan has to offer. Bridgman is 15 miles from New Buffalo and the Four Winds Casino, 10 miles from St. Joseph/Benton Harbor, and very convenient to Stevensville, Sawyer, Harbert, Union Pier, Buchanan, Three Oaks, Niles, South Bend (IN) and all the quaint Michigan towns that 1000s of visitors go enjoy all year long! Check out HAYMARKET BREWERY---great patio which is dog friendly! TAPISTRY Brewery and Transient Artisan Ales (also dog friendly!) are located in downtown Bridgman. The very popular Greenbush Brewery as well as an outstanding new restaurant called Susan’s are located in Sawyer. Also, Lake Street Eats is in downtown Bridgman, as well as Lazy Ballerina Tasting Room and a coffee shop called Small Town Grounds. Tabor Hill Winery is located in the country between Bridgman and Baroda--and is set in a beautiful location with a great restaurant that is open year-round—and it also has a dog friendly patio! Walk up the street to D'Agostino's and the Navajo Lounge---busy almost every night of the week! Couple great little breakfast spots in town, too--the greasy spoon downtown called Eric's, and a newer spot on Red Arrow Highway called Early Bird Eatery. My favorites for breakfast are Luisa's next to the Swedish Bakery in Harbert and the Blue Plate Cafe in Lakeside--in the summer, you can eat on the patio with your dog, too! One of my newer favorites is Peasants Pantry—a breakfast and lunch spot—-with a dog friendly covered patio! Whistle Stop is also a nice breakfast/lunch spot with dog friendly tables located on the side—they have some great biscuits if you love biscuits like I do! A couple good dinner spots include Susan’s and Mesa Luna in Sawyer and Red Arrow Roadhouse in Harbert/Lakeside—both on Red Arrow Highway. Finally, Watermark Brewery deserves a mention for their dog friendly outdoor space—-it’s also a crowded spot with great beers. f you’re interested in a space for hosting a party, LakeBridg(e) at the corner of Lake and Church is available for day time or night time rentals for small parties of 20 people or less—-inside, outside or both. Parties can be catered by a local restaurant and are BYOB. Contact me if you’d like to arrange a party at LakeBridg(e) regarding date, time, costs, number of people, catering arrangements, etc. There are no overnight accommodations at LakeBridg(e). And, of course, the most visited tourist attraction is LAKE MICHIGAN which is walking distance from the house--albeit it's about 1.25 miles....walk west along Lake Street from the house, and Lake Street ultimately ends at Lake Michigan! Bridgman has a beautiful sandy beach called WEKO Beach, and a beachhouse is also located at the beach. Each night in the summer at sundown, taps is played LIVE! There's a convenient grocery store in town called HARDING's and a RITE AID drug store next to the Harding's, or if you need a larger grocery store, there's a 24 hour Meijer store in Stevensville--at Exit 23, or just go north on Red Arrow Highway about six miles until you see the Meijer. If you're looking for more sleeping space, you can consider renting my other house in Bridgman which shares a driveway with this ranch house--I call the other house a 'cottage' and it's also listed on airbnb, and it can provide another sleeping area for you and your guests if you're traveling with more people. New in Spring 2020 is another home with two bedrooms and one bathroom located one mile south of downtown Bridgman—-hope to have it online on airbnb by the end of March, but don’t hesitate to ask me about it if it’s not online yet! I can get a barebones listing posted if you’re interested in securing your stay there! The house IS pet-friendly, though no animal lives there full-time. YOU MUST PROVIDE ME THE BREED, AGE and WEIGHT OF ANY PET or PETS YOU ARE BRINGING TO THE HOUSE FOR ME TO CONSIDER WHETHER THE PET WILL BE ALLOWED AT MY HOUSE. No dogs over 80 pounds are allowed, and no more than two dogs are allowed. Any pet under 50 pounds is $20/night/pet; and any pet over 50 pounds is $30/night/pet. The pet fee must be paid at the time of booking. The whole house is yours during your stay! Check out time is NO LATER THAN 11 AM. If you wish to extend your check out up to 5 PM, then an additional $50 is charged to you. If you wish to extend your check out after 5 PM, an additional night must be reserved. Sometimes I meet guests when they arrive--occasionally I'm staying in the adjacent cottage during your stay. I also drive for both UberXL and LyftXL. If you are interested in doing a wine and/or beer tour, ask me—and I can let you know how that works with me as your UberXL or LyftXL driver! I can even plan a route for you, if you want me to! The house is close to all sorts of great restaurants, breweries, wineries, antique shops, galleries, diners, bakeries---and just over a mile to Lake Michigan! Uber and Lyft are both available, but scarce. You may get lucky and get one, or you may get one and have to wait for 30 minutes for it to arrive. I also drive for UberXL and LyftXL—so all you have to do is send me a text message about when you want an Uber or Lyft, and I will activate my accounts so I’m available to pick you up and get you where you need to go or to come home! A 'bus' comes thru Bridgman a couple times per day. Amtrak stops in New Buffalo and St. Joseph, and the SouthShore line stops in Michigan City and South Bend--if you want to do a day trip to Chicago! The kitchen and bathroom were gut rehabbed--as shown in the pictures. The living room and side porch have also been substantially renovated. There is two queen size beds—one in each bedroom. Also, the couch is fairly comfortable for one person to sleep on---and, there's room for an airbed in the living room, but I don't have one to offer; you'd have to bring your own airbed. If you are sensitive to night time noise, there is a train track behind the houses across the street. The train blows its horn at the main intersection in Bridgman and the intersection down the street--you WILL hear the train and its horn overnight---until you are used to it, or unless you sleep very well! Also, there is a sump pump in the basement as the water level in the town of Bridgman is high--and may be disturbing to some guests though there are times, of course, when it rarely runs, and other times when it runs frequently. ASK ABOUT TAKING A WINERY and/or BREWERY TOUR! People from all over the midwest and the country—-and even international travelers!—love coming to Southwest Michigan to experience both the amazing wineries and breweries which are hugely concentrated in the area in and around Bridgman—-my home town! I can provide an amazing tour of wineries, breweries—-or both!—-for up to six guests!! My tour start at your location and will be customized for what you prefer to see and drink. There are about ten wineries within about 15 miles of Bridgman and just about as many breweries! It’s not easy to get from one to the other unless you know what you’re doing——and know the area well! And, you can leave that up to me with only a little input from you regarding your preferences, or maybe there’s a specific winery or brewery that MUST be included on your tour! Each tour may be up to four hours—-I will pick you up wherever you’re staying and take you to your first destination. You will be able to spend about 45 minutes at each destination, as I have two tours that will be occurring simultaneoulsy—-one starts on the hour and the other starts on the half hour. The final pick up is four hours after your tour begins and brings you back to where you started—-unless you decide you want to go back to a particular place or head to a restaurant or the beach! I’m more than happy to assist you with the details—-or just plan it all for you!
