ALMOURÃO COUNTRY HOUSES - CASTELO BRANCO

The "Casas do Almourão” are four Cottages, intended for Tourism in Rural Areas, with capacity for 24 people. Our project is located in the village of Xisto Foz do Cobrão, municipality of Vila Velha de Rodão, Castelo Branco district. The houses appear with great grandeur on the slope of the Serra das Talhadas mountains, in an idyllic environment, and allow an extraordinary view of the Ocreza River, the Almourão Valley and the Foz do Cobrão Village The house has a theme alluding to water mills. The space Casas do Almourão has 1 fully equipped kitchenette (stove, crockery, microwave, toaster, kettle, etc.), 1 living room with balcony with panoramic mountain view, with flat-screen TV. The houses have 1 double bedroom and 1 twin, or 2 double bedrooms. The entire House is equipped with independent Air Conditioning. Free WI-FI is also available in all homes. Parking is available on site. Guest access The Enterprise is inserted in a place with a scenic, landscaped setting of unique and singular beauty. Promotes landscape harmony and environmental preservation. The characteristic of this high-quality rural tourism project has taken into account aspects that promote energy efficiency and effectiveness. Thus, all materials were selected according to minimize negative effects on the environment and all equipment is considered to have low energy consumption. In the village it is possible to practice various activities, whether aquatic in the river and stream of the village, or in the surrounding mountains, with marked walking paths or rocky walls prepared for climbing. Next to our development (20 meters away) there is an excellent restaurant (Vale Mourão Restaurant), which will provide full support in the service of Lunch and Dinner meals. Our Rate includes a guided walking tour of the Schist Village “Foz do Cobrão”, passing through the village museum, community oven and water mills. In this area, the landscape is marked by the Serra das Talhadas, the embedded valleys of the Ocreza River and the Ribeira do Cobrão, where there are several places of interest, among which are the Portas do Almourão. As Portas de Almourão, located between the Aldeia do Xisto Foz do Cobrão (Vila Velha de Ródão) and the Aldeia Sobral Fernando (Proença-a-Nova), corresponds to an impressive throat excavated by the Ocreza River in the last two million years, which divides Serra das Talhadas into two powerful quartzite crests. It is worth visiting this magnificent natural monument and admiring it for the viewpoint built under a 400-metre gorge, it is an authentic challenge to our senses. The countryside continues wild and is ornamented by the magnificent quartzite cliffs, the imposing tectonic folds and the deep tear in the landscape from which the Ocreza valley, an element belonging to the Geosites of the Geopark Naturtejo da Meseta Meridional. From the archaeological point of view, stands out the acquaintance of Sobral Fernando, ancient Roman gold mining of aluvian and the legendary underground galleries of unknown origin that lie along the right bank of the river Ocreza. To enjoy the beauty of this stunning countryside, it is suggested to carry out several walking paths PR..., duly marked and, already, internationally referenced. The Mediterranean scrub patches that cover the slopes, accompanied by geometric olive groves, give the place a unique beauty. It is also noted the constant presence of animal species with high protection status, among which stands out the grifus colony (Gyps fulvus) that nests in the rocks that flank the Ocreza River, the Black Stork (Ciconia nigra), the Bufo-real (Bubo bubo), the Garça Real (Árdea cinerea) and the Coil Eagle (Circaetus gallicus), among other species.
